Default eCOTY 2007 / Issue 112

eCoty 2007
This is where eCoty 2007 really begins, on the hill roads of Limousin and Auvergne

It’s that time of year again. The time when we gather together the most exciting cars from the last twelve months on some of the best roads that Europe has to offer. This year we’ve been enjoying the mountain roads south of Clermont Ferrand in France, and an unforgettable day at the stunning Mas du Clos circuit.

But not even the spectacular scenery could outshine the list of cars that 2007 has brought us: Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series, Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Mini Cooper Works, Honda Civic Type-R (the Japanese market car, of course), Audi R8, BMW M3, Lotus 2-Eleven, Vauxhall VXR8, Nissan 350Z, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and the brand new Aston Martin DBS. Even by the high standards of eCotys past, this is an epic list. Which is your favourite?

For the full 46-page article, featuring in-depth comment on every one of the contenders, get your hands on evo magazine isssue 112, available from 14th November. View the contender videos in right-hand panel.

No GT2? Perhaps similar to last year when the Turbo wasn't included because the GT3 was considered better. My favorite is of course the 430 Scuderia!!!

Those Evo slimeballs will go for a Porsche regardless - fuckers like the Stradale better in a comparo with a GT3 but turned the tables when it came to ECOTY.

I know the Evo crew has always had a slight tendency to always give the win to the Porsche, no matter if it's a GT3, Turbo or whatever... but I just have the feeling that this time it's gonna be different. Even the R8 has impressed more than the GT3 RS if you ask me, according to different reviews
It was also different last year when the superb Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano won over the 997 GT3. I'm guessing the R8 is a bigger threat to the 430 Scuderia for eCOTY than the GT3 RS just because it has exceeded so many expectations. Trumping a decades-old icon, the 911, (according to most) must count for something...

** The 911 GT2 was not considered for this year's eCOTY (it hasn't been tested I think). It will surely be a contender then for 2008.

Hahahaha what a joke.

Even that punk C Harris said that the 997 GT3 is better than the RS, and last year a GT3 got it`s ass kicked by 599 a car that Scuderia has in it`s pocket.

But nooo, in typical Evo manner they had to invert to charts somehow and make pure idiots out of themselves.

The difference between RS and GT3 : -20kg`s and stiffer suspension setup that`s alomost unbearable for a "road" car.

There goes their credibility.

You heard it here first: eCOTY 2008: Porsche 911 GT2
I haven't read any of the older issues but I'm surprised that the Carrera GT was not recognized. Winners this decade so far:

2000 – Porsche 911 Turbo
2001 - Pagani Zonda
2002 – Honda NSX Type R
2003 – Porsche 911 GT3 (S2)
2004 – Porsche 911 (997) CarreraS
2005 - Ford GT
2006 - Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
2007 - Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997)

evo Car of the decade?

Hmm, we all knew it. The day that the ford GT beat the f430 in their ecoty, they were full of shit. every review of both cars said the gt was dynamically lacking, but all of a sudden it won their comp. They choose the winner long before the c omp is over.
