Default My SRT-4 new 3147 T3/T4 Turbo

Well, my car was out of commission for seven months after a former friend of mine backed into it. Yesterday it was finally put back together, and finished. Here are a few pics of the old and new turbos and the finished car.

The 3147 is smaller than the 60-1, so I'll have less lag and more street useability.

The new intercooler doesn't fit as well or sit as level as the old Perrin which was ruined.

I finally got the trannsmission mount in. The engine doesn't move at all anymore, though the NVH is a lot worse. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make after the dump tube problems.

Manifold sans turbo.

The finished product.

Fixing it took around $3500, most of which his insurance covered. I lost $1000 dollars on the intercooler which was 500 more than stock, all insurance would cover.
It took Seven months because of the intercooler company sending me a unit which didn't fit, and two months alone to get them to send me a new one, the one on the car in the pictures.
I missed driving it, I've put 200 miles on it since yesterday, but my garage broke so it's stuck in. Probably better for my wallet now, anyway.

Thanks for the link Dan

Nice mods. It's not often someone fits a smaller turbo but I can see your point about it being more street suitable.

Would be nice to see some uncorrected figures posted if you run it on a dyno

I'm not quite sure how much power it's making. Right now I'm running 16 or so PSI, on a relatively mild tune in terms of spool (the gain on the E-01 is 26, so it's in no hurry to spool), and it still spools at least 500 rpm sooner than the old turbo.
Another SRT owner I know made 300whp on 15 psi, though the major difference with this turbo is torque. I've found that with the stock turbo, the engine will make buckets of torque early, and it pans out by midrange. It never made torque well in the high RPMs. The 60-1 didn't spool up quickly enough to take advantage of the low-midrange torque producing capabilities of the engine. At 17PSI, it made 320WHP, and 300WTQ. A dyno of a guy in MA at 17PSI made 320WHP and 328WTQ, significantly more. And torque wins races.

As soon as it gets checked up to make sure everything's working properly, it's going to Sac for tuning. I need to get a couple hundred miles on this turbo first as well.

Thanks for your responses, guys.

I see that you say it "Still has a muffler, no cat", i thought SRT's didn't have mufflers but just an aray of piping, is that aftermarker? Boy do i need a bigger turbo, nice ride by the way.

Well, stock they don't come with mufflers, just an array of spaghetti pipes at the Y in the back.

I had a custom 3" turboback made, but I got a fixit ticket from the nazis in Walnut Creek. I had to have a muffler put on, so instead of going ricecan I got a single in, dual out Magnaflow SS type muffler.

How does the magnaflow sound on a that car, i wanted to get one because I did not want that annoying motorcylce sound that Honda's with aftermarket crap have, I like a low, deep tone. ??????

The magnaflow is more mellow. It's quiter, and it burbles instead of popping. It's better than any rice muffler.
