thats great news ive never really felt any sympathy for williams, dunno why, maybe it has something to do with senna...anywayz i was hoping JB would stay at BAR
do u guys think it has something to do with williams being in money trouble now that HP has left them and they have to pay for an engine? that they're suddenly willing to accept a buy-off sum of money?

Heidfeld unlikely to return
Nick Heidfeld, although reportedly fighting fit, is unlikely to return to the cockpit of a Williams in the Asian double header. In a press document issued on Sunday in Brazil, the Grove based team confirmed that Mark Webber and Antonio Pizzonia - not the 28-year-old German who has signed to switch to BMW from 2006 - would test at Jerez this week.
Heidfeld had been expected to run at the Spanish session, the last of the 2005 season, ahead of a possible return in Japan or China. Moreover, with Nico Rosberg also left off the Jerez schedule, Pizzonia appears increasingly the favourite to retain Nick's drive.

BMW struggling with V8
BMW may be struggling to surpass 19,000 rpm with its early 2.4 litre V8 engine design for 2006. Last week, Williams' Patrick Head revealed that the specification of his team's 2006 Cosworth power plant 'is quite a lot higher' than the works BMW.
The Munich carmaker's motor sport director Mario Theissen appeared to confirm the unpleasant news when musing to news magazine 'Der Spiegel'. "It will be a genuine challenge (with the V8 designs) to surpass 19,000 rpm again," the German remarked.
Customer supplier Cosworth has previously let slip that the 2006 Williams unit is already clocking up around 20,000 rpm on the test benches.
BMW, a fierce opponent of the move to abandon the V10-route, is also thought to be grappling with the common problem of excess V8 engine vibration, particularly in the upper range on the rpm scale.
Other marques, however, don't know what all the vibration fuss is about. Toyota's Ricardo Zonta, who has slammed the 200hp loss as 'boring,' at least expected to be rocked with vibration at the wheel of an early V8 at Jerez. The Brazilian said: "I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth the Toyota is. I think the guys have done a good job."

^^^^
so the 'real' reason that Williams is dropping BMW????
im not so sure, as HP dropping Williams seems to be folliwing at the same time. Cosworth may prove to be a better engine, as they ahve had v8 experience previously... but in F1, Cosworth hasnt had the reputation for winning races... but rather being a more economical choice of engine suplier.
how many teams are scheduled to run Cosworth engines next year? Minardi-red bull, Williams, Jordan?
anyway, i predict that next year will prove to be even more competitve then this year

i thought Midland-Jordan will be running toyota engines.
About the V8's I have a feeling Honda and Toyota will be on top. Followed closely by Ferrari and then Mercedes. The cosworth might be good but williams aren't doin too well. With personnel changes and all. I expect them to be struggling again. As for renault,.... it'll be hard to tell.
But I have a feeling the grid will be much closer next year. The cars with the best engines not being the best chassis or aerodynamics and vice versa.

Honda buys BAR F1 team
Honda has underlined its determination to win the Formula One World Championship with its acquisition of the full 100 per cent shareholding in the BAR Honda F1 team.
Less than a year after purchasing a 45 per cent share in B.A.RH Limited, Honda has agreed to acquire founding owner British American Tobacco's 55 per cent majority share. Honda will complete the purchase of the remaining shares by the end of 2005. The acquisition was announced in a press conference held by Honda in Tokyo today, ahead of its home grand prix at Suzuka this weekend. This race will also mark Honda's 100th grand prix with the BAR Honda team.
During the course of the past six seasons with the B.A.R Honda team, Honda's F1 programme has gone from strength to strength. In 2000, Honda returned to the F1 World Championship, having entered into a contract with B.A.R to supply engines and jointly develop chassis technology. In December 2001, a new 3-year contract, effective from 2002, was signed, the provisions of which included the strengthening of the joint chassis development project. In July 2004, an agreement was reached to extend the contract period to the end of the 2007, with the additional aim of further strengthening the partnership's structure for technological development.
The 2004 season marked the 40th anniversary of Honda's inaugural F1 campaign and saw BAR Honda achieve second place in the Constructors' World Championship. Honda now considers 100 per cent ownership of the team to be a crucial step in its ambition to win the Constructors' World Championship in the next few years.
The team will continue to conduct operations from its current base in Brackley, Northamptonshire, UK, working together with Honda Racing Development Ltd., located in Berkshire.

This is something I expected to happen for a long time, especially when Jenson Button unveiled he would rather stay at BAR instead of going to Williams

Its a good thing I think, this will confirm Honda's commitment to F1.
On other news:

The Renault boss played a couple psychological games with Ferrari number one, Michael Schumacher, earlier this season and says it was all done to help his team.
''In sport you aim for the opposition weakness. I have a lot of respect (for Michael) but I know his emotion.'' he told The Guardian.
Briatore went on to say that he believes new F1 champion; Fernando Alonso, has a better temperament for racing than the seven-time champion.
''Forget what you see in public,'' said Briatore.
''I know them both very well and I promise you Fernando has more ice in his blood than Michael, who is boiling with feeling.''
Briatore though maintains that it is not Schumacher’s supposed lack of motivation that is Ferrari’s problem, but rather the fact that the whole company is lacking a spark.
''I think you need young people, to give you new energy.”
