Default 2007 VW Golf V GTI

Took the plunge - and bought myself a car I've admired for a while now... I'm extremely happy with it, eventhough there was a post purchase niggle (the left rear door wouldn't unlock) - but the dealer took care of it in a day!

Just hit 1000km, so now I'm starting to open up the performance slowly - and I'm loving exploring the cars potential.

Colour is Reflex Silver, and it came with a sunroof, 18" Detroit Wheels, and leather interior.

The dealer is already trying to sell me a mtm chip, which is backed by Volkswagen in my country - so I would keep the maintenence plan and warranty. (I'm quite tempted) I think I'll wait for the 15000km service before I decide anything. With the mtm chip power would jump from 147kw to 170kw. (200hp to 230hp)

Anyway - hope you like pics

Very nice buy, congratulations! I'm glad you chose the manual instead of the DSG tranny :good:

That's the dichotomy that is South Africa... some have it bad and others really good hehe

Nice VeeDub... what's a new Golf run now? About R500,000? I am so out of touch with the "local currency" prices of cars. I seem to recall it is really out of whack with other consumer goods.

Set me back R260, 000 which amounts to, $35, 470 or 26, 000 Euros... Not bad considering the price of BMW 1 series or Audi A3.

RC45, you'd be surprised how much affirmative action has affected the dichotomy that is South Africa. Being a white male is no longer a passport to success. Don't get me wrong - diversity of wealth is a necessity in our country - but that doesn't mean that the money wasn't hard earned!

^^ Oh I wasn't implying you had access to easy money... just it may be an easier life for some than others. And that in and of itself is not a bad thing - it is what it is after all

Congrats on the new ride!

I test drove one of these with the DSG, and it was a pretty fun car!

Cabdy White and manual, exactly what I would have.

Enjoy and be glad you didn't have DSG.

Cool car, my friend has a two door black one. Very nice interior quality and nice sounding exhaust too.

Any mods planned? 8)
