Well sadly the real is probably that the engine will be small displacement, forced induction - heavier and more complex and less effective overall.
GM can just about stay in business selling shitty cheap cars - they have no busiiness trying to make $100,000+ cars that will slow and heavy like Lamborghinis...
If people wanted a ferrari or Porsch or Lamborghini, that's what they would buy - variety is the spice of life.

Ahh, here comes the quick and dirty way of HP gain again.........there's so much more one can do to that LS7 engine for more HP, but noo, they want to use a supercharger.

Take a look at the Porsche Carrera GT numbers.. imagine the price of the CGT if it only weighed 2800lbs...

My guess is that the project will either get scrapped or delayed heavily due to the current financial issues of GM. There's not much market for a $100,000+ Chevy. If they do make it, I'd guess that of course there would be those who would buy it, but it would be the same people that bought the Ford GT.
Much easier to buy a regular Z06 and make some mods to get the same performance for way less price.

its not a coupe it might have been (slightly) cheaper if it weren't a roadster/hardtop, and definately would've weighed in under 3000 lbs.

somehow, i dont think 600hp is thier goal... if it is going to be a 6.2-6.3 liter dohc S/C'd v8... ford have already done near about 600 sae hp in the GT... and still quite some potential left in that engine
i haven't heard anything new on this subject in a about 3 months now.... but they were originally gunning for #1 @NS. the development time on the engine alone seems to warrent it will be used for something.

maybe they want it to have more tunable aftermarkted opportunities, although would be stupid, but maybe.
one thing all info sources have come up with, is that will use CF in various body parts.

Agree with RC45 on this. GM is having a hard time keeping it's head above water with it's economy/family car lineup that building a "super vette" with a possible target market near $100,000 would just be going backwards for GM. The Z06 is more than enough for track/road and pretty damn light and perfect market price to compete with the top European names.

I'd hardly call a Murcielago "slow" when it's faster than a Z06, unless that's a "slow" car too.....
