Default New Nikon! (Successor to D70/D70s)

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0607/06...dslrteaser.asp

Nikon Japan has today started a teaser campaign promoting a new compact 10.2 megapixel digital SLR which will be announced in 20 days, we can only guess that this would be the natural successor to the D70/D70s. The teaser gives away few details other than the fact that the camera will have 10.2 megapixels (just in case you were thinking of buying a Sony Alpha). If any other significant details come out over the next 20 days we'll cover them. UPDATE: An English version has now been added to the Nikon Imaging Global website.

Hmmm. then what is to become of the D2X and D200?

Seems this might slot in above the D70 replacement.

I dont think this will effect the D2x at all since this is aimed at affordability. As for the d200 its selling very strongly and id doubt they would mess with it. so i think this might be to the d200 what the d50 is to the d70.

i bet the wait for the Canon 20D's successor will really be worth it.... no, not the 30D... the 40D 8) We'll have to hold Nikon at bay with something outragously better and similarly priced

The new generation Nikon DSLR are almost there 8) ... finaly !!! It might be possible that this 10.2 megapixel sensor will replace the 6 megapixel sensor that comes with the D50 and D70, not sure yet. The new sensor is completely new, I mean, it's not just an old sensor pomped up to 10.2 megapixels. It's a LBcast sensor. The new D3h will get this sensor as well And that baby will be mine, most definitely. I don't really care about the fact that I will turn from a 6 megapixel camera to a 10 megapix one, cause then I would go for the D2x or D2xs.
The two main reasons (technicly) why I choose the new D3h over the D2x or D2xs are; The D3h will be packed with the new generation LBcast sensor and last but not least that it will be equiped with completely new software plus new type of batteries as well. The way how it's going to handle and reduce noise will be revolutionary and it will come cheaper than the D2xs and his predecessor the D2x. So, it's going to be a brand new shooter, a true next generation model.
It's going to be something totaly different than the D200, sensorwise. The D200 still stocks a CCD.
And one of the best improvements that this one will offer over my current D70 will be that this one will have a professional viewfinder ... So, I can throw a cristal clear window on the world 8)

And when it comes to the price; The D3h will be for sale for around 3800 US dollars that will be something around 4000 € I guess.

Cheers

Why do people put so much hype on new cameras when they probably aren't even using their current camera to the limits.

Photography is completely different to other IT sectors; computers, graphics cards etc - An old camera will still take great photos, it doesn't suddenly become obsolete because a new camera is out

One of things Nikon/Sony need to work on is decreasing noise at higher ISO settings, it's clear to me that this new camera is not going to address that issue as it's using a similar sensor to the current Nikon D200 and Sony A100.

Better to wait for camera improvements that will actually improve the quality of your photos

Maybe in film, but when it comes to processing and memory, there are always improvements.. i.e. speed and functions

But I definitely know what you're saying.. A new camera does not mean you're a bettter photographer..

  • Processing is done in your image editor on your computer
  • Memory ? Well you buy memory cards yourself. The buffer and FPS on this new Nikon looks like it's the same as in the D70s.
  • What new functions on this camera are going to really improve your photography ?
