Default Quattroruote 5/2005 F430 performance figures (!!!)

Holy shit guys... The Italian magazine Quattroruote did a performance test on the F430 F1... I got this off of SuperCars.net. All credits go to mafalda:

Quattroruote 5/2005
Ferrari F430 F1 composite brakes

Top speed
317.788 Kph @ 8650 rpm (197.5 Mph)

Acceleration Kph

0-60 Kph 1.6s (!!!!!!)
0-100 3.6s (62.1 mph)
0-160 8.1s (99.1 mph)
0-200 12.5s (124.1 Mph)
0-240 18.6s (150 Mph)

1/4 mile 11.6s (!!!!!) @ 193.9 Kph
1 Km 21.2s @ 24.7 Kph (!!!!!) f40 did, in 1989, 20.98s!!!

Brake
100-0 Kph 33.3m
160-0 85.3m
200-0 133.2m
test average: 1.18g!!!!!!

I think you'll agree those are some CRAZY numbers. Right up to the 1/4 mile, this thing is on par with the SLR, and almost as fast as an ENZO! GOD DAMN WHY CAN'T I HAVE ONE??????

OMG !!!!! That's amazing !!! much, much, much faster than I ever would have suspected. 0-60 kph is just crazy, in my Ferrari book the F40 did 2.2 seconds from 0-50 kph  The record was 1.9 seconds to 50 kph with a 348 tb (EU), and it doesn't even come close to what the F430 did

Shit, that's crazy fast!!

On the acceleration figures it's an average 0.4 s faster than Ferrari's official numbers!

That thing has an incredible traccion (1.6 from 0-50 Km/h).

And the braking numbers are one of the best that I've ever seen for a road car... I only wish they've done some handling tests as well...

Imagine what a F430 CS would do...

Many thanks for the info nejc!

EDIT:

Some more numbers:

Vairano best lap:

1'19"307 - F430

GT2 1'18"99

Gallardo 1'19"36

Steering pad: 1.12g

360 Modena 1.13g
Modena spider: 1.12g
Gt2 and gallardo: 1.14g

As the guys back at Supercars.net have said, the track probably wasn't on its best conditions since under regular circunstances the F430 would pull more G's than a 360 (specially the Spider).

Also:

Weight on test:

1580 Kg (3475 Lbs)

Weight was measured with Fuel, driver and correvitt (anyone knows what the hell does this mean?!). 80 Kg more than the 360 Modena F1 tested in 1999.

It has awesome traction because of the new e-diff

Is there any cheaper supercar at the moment??? I don't think so... it has the best performance-per-price rate at the moment IMO.
I think you're right... at the moment theres nothing that can touch the F430 performance wise for the same amount of $$. But that'll probably change with the new 997 turbo.

A correvitt is the device they attach to the car measure the acceleration numbers and such

As of right now, performance wise it's going to be har to touch for porsche since porsche doesn't use as many electronics to keep good traction as ferrari and porsche still isn't using semi-automatic gear boxes(dsg will come out a little later with the 997's). But one car that actually will be on par, dispite the lack of electronics, is the new Z06. The Z06 runs high elevens in the 1/4 and thats with lack of traction control, we just need to see a comparison of the two on a road course.

^^^ For acceleration, TC is irrelevant. The best acceleration times are when TC is turned OFF.

The new 997 Turbo will have active differentials ( a la EVO) and the DSG will come with the 997 Turbo, not the 'S'.

Besides, the sequential gearboxes have almost no influence on these times. As a matter of fact, the difference in performance between the Manual and the F1 on the F430 accounts for only 0.05 seconds at 0-1000 Meters measures.

And in most cases, a pro driver will get better launches with a manual transmission.

I don't usualy discuss 1/4 mile times (and I hate to do so) since they mean pretty much nothing for me when comparing two cars( still, if they're good even better). However, that doesn't put two cars in the same category in my opinion. Not that the Z06 isn't a great car tough, and I'm sure it performs rather well in every aspect (well, except interior quality that is ).

Besides, like nejc already said, on this kind of measures Traccion Control will only slow you down.

Scans and some translations courtesy of mafalda at supercars.net:

Driving Position: 4

Ergonomics: 4

Instrumentation: 5

Climatization: 4

Visibility: 3

Fit and Finish: 4

Equipment: 4

Security Equipment: 3

Space: 4

Luggage Room: 3

Confort: 3

Good when in Wet mode, very hight noise but it's not a problem.

Engine: 5

Lots of hp and torque, "furious" after 4500 rpm and yet incredibily "soft" at low rpm's. Instantaneous throttle response.

Accleration: 5-Gold

0-100 in 3.6s: the FASTEST production-car we have ever tested!! Perfect integration between the engine, E-Diff and the F1 Gearbox.

Low rpm Acceleration: 5

The incredible quality of the V8 is shown on the reprises test: in 6th gear at 1950 rpm it goes from 70 Km/h to 120 Km/h in just 8.7 seconds. In 5th the time goes down to 5.7 seconds.

Gearbox: 5

Confortable when in Wet Mode, very fast when in Race Mode. Plus, it allows the driver to keep both hands on the wheel.

Steering: 5

Shows its best qualities at high speeds and conciliates a good response with a good 'feel'. Also very good under normal use.

Brakes: 5

With an average deceleration of 1.18 G, the F430 stops from 200 Kmh to 0 in just about 133 meters. The optional Carbo-ceramic brakes guarantee an incredible fade resistance.

On the Road: 5

Easy to drive, extremely fast and thanks to the electronics it's not a problem to drive everyday and under different weather conditions. All it takes is to select the right Mode.

The F430 keeps proving how good car it is. Considering it is on par with the SLR the successor to Maranello is about to smash the merc utterly.

Such an increase in performance and such a modest increase in price. Ferrari at it's best!!

The most impressive are probably the revs...8650rpms and still safe for the engine.
