Totally agree with you on that, although the gigaworks is pretty good. I don't really trust creative when it comes to accuracy of spec though, their marketing team seems to have "creative" ways of making up spec.

I'm sort of considering getting an audigy 2 value since the price has dropped quite a bit lately. Any of you have experience with that?

If u don't wanna spend 3~400 bucks on speakers....u can also look on Logitech Z-680, since it is replaced by the z5500, the price is quite low now and the sound is awesome.

Go for the Klipsch ... Logitech is good at mouses , Creative at soundcards , Klipsch and Altec Lansing do make speakers , by far the best

probably at bit late here but heres my penith worth...

I would personally go for the 5.1 the reason being hardly anyone is making stuff to broadcast 7.1 at the moment a handfull of dvds max..

The extra cost for 7.1 at present, really isnt worth the money.

as for 5.1 systems the company i work for do a pretty good systems just amp and speakers mainly though.

check out www.pure.com
Good luck
