yup, N-D drop will seriously hurt the transmission, so i would only do it in a courtesy car

just try it, and by the noise the gearbox will make you'll notice and know that kinda things seriously hurts the trans and you'll never do it again. I did it when I was 11 years old (young=stupid?) and the car was never the same, of course I put on too much gas

if you drove sometime in your life (vette97, you drive your mom's suv, auto gearbox) a manual gearbox and made the common mistake of not pushing enough the clutch pedal, letting go earlier than needed the clutch, etc, remember that particular sound-noise, multiply it five times, and the result will be the screeching-whining-cracking of the automatic.

if you do it every once in a while ill be ok, but if ou do it everytime u start, well let me tell u from experience. ull break the transmission...

ive done that once at didnt hurt the trans. i guess i will never fo do that again

good thing, only did it once, but those abuses to the box don't come early.
That hit you made to the trans of course something happened (a gear, a gear teeth, shaft, etc may have an unwanted microfracture) , fortunately gearboxes are some of the parts that are made with a high safety factor so they can withstand some abuse.
