i have my laptop hooked up to my HDTV yet when i set the laptop to its normal res. its to smalle to read normal type on the TV, yet videos are fine. also the screen "viberates" on some color combos/patterns?

help!!

First of all what res is the TV on? What cable are you using to connect your Laptop to your HDTV? Another thing what kinda Video card do you have?

ummm i am using a Pure|AV by belkin cable which runs DVI (laptop) to HDMI (TV), video card is a ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, this is what it says under displays on my laptop.

Well I am not so sure but I think the problem is you have everything maxed out. Try something lower such as outputting to 720p instead of the 1080p if thats what you are doing.I think thats why you get screen flickers as well.

but when i take it off of the higher settings it crops the screen. and its still hard to read the fine print on the screen. but i can't get its to fit on the TV and be clear.

Hmm....I am assuming you are using your Mac notebook? I dont think that has S-Video correct? Usually I just use S-Video. Never tried this HDMI DVI mess.

Try something like 1024 X 720 something Resolution with a high refresh rate. I have no clue on how you do shit in Mac so I might be just telling you things that would not help at all. Hope that fixes it.

no i have tried every res. it crops the screen of the laptop. and only really 800x600 looks clean yet agian it wont fit my laptop screen or the TV. now haveint it maxed makes it fit on the screen about 95% of it. to give you an idea the M in Pimp Racer to the end of QUOTE is what i see on my tv. however i can not read the text very well.

Find out the native resolution of your TV, then make sure that the connections you are using support it, hdmi or DVI would be best, if your laptop cant match the tv's native resolution exactly then use something like powerstip to provide you with it.

Your TV's native resolution I THINK is 1080i

One question though. Can you on a MAC have 1080i on your TV as the resolution and 1024 or something like 800 X 600 on the MAC? Or is it like whatever is on the laptop is on the TV. If its like that then thats a bit fucked up IMO.

Powerstrip is a programe that can give you extra display resolutions if you need them.

It would seem you would need to select 1920x1080 though, acording to the info supplied by pimp racer.

^ Actually I don't think it has 1080 vertical res. I think it is 1080i upscaled.

So you need to find out how many pixels your TV has and then set your video card to the same. . .

Or try this:

Go to System Preferences -> Displays -> Click Detect Displays under the "Display" Tab.

See if that works.

well when i try and detect using the "display" panel it doesn't show anything after i click it. but i understand the res. thing but its just finding out what my TVs native res it. then to set the laptop to match and that should clean it up?

Ya that TV is something to give for man. I experienced the first gen of those I think? Just pure badass in all it 50 or 60 inch glory.

Jabba I think he is using a MAC and I think powerstrip is not compabilate with MAC. Its a neat program though man thanks for the link! I also like their irotate program.
