but jabba also pointed out another one it looks like.

sorta has a cavalier front,looks like an omega from the side and from the rear a lotus carlton.lotus carltons are very quick

hey man sweet car, and at the narrows bridge car park, a meeting point for alot of cruises, street racing ect.

there was a antilag and a perth wrx cruize meet up there on the 15th of august, how oftern are u down there?

and the rockford fosqate sticker, is kinda asking for you're car to get broken into,

do you have rockford fosqate gear in you're car, cuz i loveeee that audio equitment.

Thanks beaver, I was there more because I live in the area not because of any type of cruise that happens there.
I also thought about that when I put the RF sticker on.....but ended up doing it anyway since it looks nice. I don't have any of their gear in the car, just Blaupunkt amp/sub/6x9's.

Sorry....but the model in question was called here in the european peninsula as Opel Senator (ive no clue about its name in the UK), but at the end of the day, despite a similar chassis, the Senators shape has a bit longer shape(for example we can notice comparing with the omega that, apart from the wheelbase, the part between the boot and the end of the back door is a bit longer in the senator than in the omega).....anyway....its not a vectra or the corsa (cavalier and nova in the UK) at all once the 90s vectra used to have 4,35 meters of lenght, and the corsa 3,70 meters of size, and they have been always front wheel drive cars, whereas the omega(carlton in the UK) used to have 4,70 meters of lenght and rear wheel drive, and the senator a bit more.....at the end of the day, during the 80s-90s the senator was considered the luxurious version of the record/omega in europe peninsula, and a bit longer than them sharing the same chassis...a similar situation for example as the BMW 745i- BMW 760iL among others

In addition, a 200bhp in a commodore chassis sounds great indeed, once the car has a good chassis, not very heavy, a lot of power in low revs(a 3.8l engine)...the car has to be great fun for oversteering on twisty roads...for instance the most sportive versions that we have with this shape were the opel omega/senator 3000 (3000 cc and 177 bhp) and opel omega/senator 3000 24V (3000 cc and 204 bhp)....and they were great to have some fun...i dont want to imagine the same amount of power in a similar chasis(even lighter because id say the commodore is less equiped than the omega), and more power and torque in low revs once a 3.8 engine is replaced instead of the 3.0...enjoy yourselves with the car at the end of the day

The UK (and Europe I think) had two models based on the same floorpan/chassis. There was the Vauxhall/Opel Senator and also the Carlton. The Carlton was the lower market segment car with engines from 1.8i to 2.5i (Diplomat Spec) with the high performance version getting a 3.0i 24V straight six (GSi3000).

The Senator started with the 2.5i Straight 6 and also had the 3.0i and 3.0i 24V straight sixes as well. The Senator was for a long time the favourite of the British Traffic Police for speed and handling. I got my first ticket from a bloke in one of them.

I spent a month in New Zealand about 10 years ago and the Commodore I rode in felt like my wifes Carlton for size etc. The bloke had the 5 litre version and liked to show off, also had shares in tyre dealers (coff coff).

Go the HSV's! brute power over tech, damn fun cars though.

Thinking of modding? I see guys now turbo'ing VL commodores to varing degrees of sucess. If had a HSV S/C is the way to go.

Those custom plates might be worth someting too!

When I bought my '86 Honda City Pro T 12 months ago, it'd done 128,000 in 17 years, one owner - pretty easy life - I've just passed 142,000km.












*The clutch has been replaced. - the clutch slipped alot when I bought it - had a oil leak after changing the clutch. Booked the car in to stop the leak...got it back, it leaked again, took it back, been fine ever since.

*Only other problem was 1 of the 4 distributor cables buggered up, replaced all 4 with the ones that go on Falcons & Commodores

Apart from that after 14,000 km, its been fine.


p.s

With it putting out just 56bhp at the moment, I'll be looking to get it up to City Turbo figures (ie. 100bhp)

Can't wait to see the difference it makes! ;D

I haven't thought of modding it, since I would rather buy a newer version once I can afford it (i.e. one with a LS1 in it).
As for the plates, I've never really thought about or investigated what they would be worth....might have to sell them seperate to the car. Do you know what prices thet generally go for?

^^You'd be better buying a new car yes. Any Ideas? I was looking at a VYII Clubsport for a while, awesome but really expensive. You'd be looking at $50K, SS are good but it doesn't have that threatening engine note of a HSV, go kick one over and just listen, there's nothing like it!

The plates I'm not sure, check out the trading post or local paper for examples (motoring liftout), there's no set price, there are stupid plates that go for $10K or more! Post them in the trading post for a price your happy with and see what happens. Such plates are collectors item, (HSVs are popular!), like pure number plates eg "357"

Ps you might want to post them in the aussie LS1 forums perhaps?

I haven't given it too much thought yet, as the funds aren't there yet.
Thanks for the advice on the plates, I will check it out and see what I can expect.....some quick money would be nice, just put normal plates on the car.
