Daniel - a little trick to get your self confidence on the 2-3 shift way up.

You may have noticed the self-centering nature of any of the shifters (even the stock wooden spoon).

The movement you are looking for on the 2-3 shift is to slip the shifter out of 2nd and loosely let it self centre as you shift up towards 3rd.. now with the shifter naturally centered, it can ONLY snick up into 3rd.

The only times I have missed the 2-3 shift is when I tried to "put" it in gear and as you have experienced yourself - you never quite know where you put it... but if you go from centre - it can only be in 3rd.
