Default 8.8l 650hp V10 Uber-Z06 might see the light of day...

One of the latest super-rumours is swirling around the supposed 8.8l 10 cylinder aluminum block engines. These are pegged as the new-age replacements for the current truck 8.1l big blocks.

Numbers are supposedly around 600hp. These engines would be intended for the Tahoes and Suburbans, Escalades and Hummers.

Then ------ the story goes that it will have a 8.8l 650hp hi-po variant squeezed into the long rumoured Blue Devil Uber-Vette...

Could y'all imagine that? A sub 3000# 650hp Vette.. The Enzo replacement had better be un-fucking believable to even stand a chance..

BTW - the C6 Z06 latest rumours include aluminium frame, sub 3000# weight, 500hp+ and some killer lines...

ive heard this same roumor out of GM myself.

as far as stuffing that massive beast of an engine in the Z... sure there's room if a viper has a 500 cid, why not an uber vette?... and while at it, just make it a recipricating one valve head

if the blue devil sees the light of day, i hope it sees more owners/drivers than what the mako shark vette did.

well, in order to handel those 650BHP they need to rework the entire chassis and the basicly the whole car...so "Z06" will be whole new car with just an old name.

Now now - be serious - the "entire C5 chassis" is what was used for the basis of the C5-R... the car can and does handle those 650 horse right now.. just ask all the Z07 guys..

Of course the new car will be new.. just the same way the progression from F40 to F50 and then F60each time involved a completly new car.. except for the badges I doubt anything else was re-used..

So the next Ferrari "supercar" will be a whole new car - just an old name..

not a fan of v10. they could easily get that kind of hp (650hp) out of a 427.

This could be a storm but a 8.8 l engine in the front, that must be heavy, don't you think ??

These are light weight aluminium blocks and relatively light reciprocating components... the current block size/weight is the same from 5.7l all the way to 7.xl

let's first see GM pull this off in the first place..

When I see the men on the head of GM and the will they have to make a European-beating car, no doubt it will be a great car
I think they should have launch this Blue Devil Corvette sooner and the Cadillac Cien too
