seriously you just have to do some track time with that baby

did you ever consider buying a Shelby Cobra A/C? awesome cars.

insane, Yep.... the snow is 98-99% gone, that is until this coming weekend! We may get a slight sprinkle again but it looks pretty good from now on.

I even had the SLR out last night and I was foaming at the mouth with excitement! BTW.... my girlfriend's bother met us up at the restaurant we go to and he started talking about the empty garage space at the house I own next door to the main house. He started agitating me :prr: about how I should be getting something new to fill the void up there. Well, while he was talking and making suggestions, I had this 'shit eating' grin on my face and the next thing you know, he says...... "I knew it, I just knew it! You got something didn't you!"

My girlfriend starts giving me dagger looks.... and then I'm reminded for sure why I will never get married again! :fuck:

Anyhow, not being a liar, I toid my GFs brother what I bought..... probably coulda fried eggs on my GF's head! :roflmao:

Well.... we get home and I show her pics of the Orange RS! Surprisingly, she likes the car and the Orange color the best of all 4 color choices. She even said it looked real sharp!

And the saga continues..... the Mags..... over and out! :scatter:
Remind me never to get married

Again, a huge congrats on the purchase, wish I could say it was comming to my garage :fuck: but I'm sure you will treat it well. Have fun and stay safe

Awesome news! Can't wait to see the pics of the car.

I do have an odd question though. Most cars go through a "break-in" period, where they can't be run @ full throttle or revved beyond a certain point for a few thousand miles. Now because you don't own your cars very long or drive them everyday, do you advise by these break-in periods or are you just balls to the wall from day 1? Also, do the dealers advise you of these break-in periods?

Just curious, never owned a car that was worth that much  , and we tend to keep our cars for a VERY long time.

Cant wait to see pics of the car :faint: :faint:

The following is a little dramatic event I went through before I was reassured by the dealership owner that indeed, the Orange RS was mine and not sold out from underneath me! It happened over last weekend and I just wanted to relay what I went through last Sunday and Monday! All is well now and I may get the car tomorrow!

This is a little story I have regarding my purchase of the Orange GT3RS from Herb Chambers Porsche in Boston, Massachusetts. I purchased the car on Saturday, March 10th, and the following tidbit is what followed the next 2 days and had me a nervous basket case all day Sunday and Monday morning!!! :shocked!:

I had a PM from one of 6Speedonline's members (not to be named) early Sunday morning giving me some very disturbing news! He informed me that he had heard from a very reliable source that the Herb Chambers Porsche dealership had sold the GT3RS out from underneath me to someone else (also not to be named) for more money than the deal I had made with the owner's son, George Chambers, on Saturday...... essentially stabbing me in the back! To say I was POd, mad, freaked out, foaming at the mouth or slightly upset at this news is an understatement!!!

I told the person who sent me the PM, that I had finalized a deal and that as far as I was concerned, it was a binding oral contract with a man who gave me his word that the deal was absolutely unbreakable. I even asked him if we shook hands :good: over the phone to seal this transaction to which he replied... "We have a deal..... the car is 100% yours!"

What had me perplexed after receiving the PM was that George, Herb's son, had talked to me as a gentleman and I was convinced he was a man of his word! He spent 15-20 minutes with me on Friday talking about the car and how he said it was not sold and I could still buy it for the right price and then I called him back on Saturday and we spent another 1/2 hour or more BSing and finally closed the deal. Is that the kind of person who would double cross me? I sure as hell hoped not!

Well, Monday morning, I called George at the dealership and asked if everything was OK with the purchase and he said yes, yes and more yes! He said I was easily approved for the loan and he was even able to find me a slightly lower interest rate than the one he had initially quoted me! George then transferred me over to the Finance Manager, who needed conformation of some personal info. Again, sure sounds like a decent and honorable man to me!

Now when the topic of the RS popped up on 6Speed, I read the post with great interest and even ran across a reply or two that said watch out for this person and/or the dealership. This kind of comment is something that is heard over and over again in the automotive industry! Even now, when someone starts BSing me, "I ask them if they used to be a Used Car Salesman!" Of course those couple of negative posts certainly threw up a red flag for me and I'm sure everyone else who might have had some interest in the Orange RS. I continued reading the posts and kept debating about whether or not I really wanted or needed the car.

I know from being in business myself, that unfortunately, sometimes rumors (not necessarily vindictive ones) can start and spread like wildfire. I'm assuming that the one that had made its way to me could have started with a person who honestly thought they were in the cat bird's seat as far as purchasing the RS.

I'm not pointing fingers at ANYBODY! I can only tell you the buying experience I had at the Herb Chambers' Porsche Dealership in Boston. I NEVER once had a uneasy feeling that I was dealing with anything but an honest, respectful, good faith and true to his word person named George Chambers! Maybe someone else did at one time BUT I didn't and that's all I kind report back to you.

I'm certainly glad the info I received turned out to be inaccurate because it would have freaked me out to lose the RS. :faint: I'm glad George and his father Herb, turned out to be stand-up gentlemen for me and now I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Orange GT3RS. Sorry for being long winded but I wanted to dispel the possibility of my purchase going the way of Hiroshima and blowing up in my face!

To the person who PMd me, thank you very much for your concern. I appreciate your interest in trying to protect me from a deal gone bad and I'm thankful to you for being a friend online.

To my friends here at JABBASWORLD, :hello: hopefully I'll be getting my RS very soon and will certainly do a candid review for all of you after I get some decent miles on her. Thanks for all the kudos on the RS and for being there when I needed info or just to pass the time of day with each other. Magwheel

p.s. Thanks again to George, Herb and Aaron at the dealership for treating me perfect!

That was a great little anecdote, especially cause it all ended up being just a rumor. I am glad you are the one getting the RS and so soon too! I can't wait to see pictures and to hear your impressions of it.

You say thanks to us for being here to pass the time with, but I say thank you to you for sharing your experiences with us!

Wow, that anecdote was nerve-wracking just to read! Glad things have worked out well and that you'll soon get a new car to drive around in.

I like your way of buying cars. I guess you don't know what a 'waiting list' is, do you? you like that car? you make an offer. The dealer agrees. The car is yours. I've never undertood how some people can wait 2 years to get their brand new F430... when in the same time period, you've bought and sold like 15 cars already :good:
Hey Private Stationery, Yeah.... a waiting list would drive me nuts! :silly: Not only that, there's too much that can go wrong while on the list. They could stop making the car short of their production goal, the Dealer could come up with some bullshit reason to screw you :x out of you spot on the list and sneak someone with a bribe ahead of you. Plus being a 'spoiled brat', waiting would give me the 'heebee jeebies'!

One thing you may not know which I have made known before on this and other forums is that I'm adopted! I was adopted at a very early age and my Mother spoiled the heck out of me and my Father gave me the 'financial capabilities' to fulfill my wildest dreams! If it wasn't for Mom and Dad, I'd be driving a 1945 Volkswagen and probably pumping gas at a local gas station. Even though I know how lucky I am, I hope that I have NEVER abused my good fortune and spoke ignorantly of my position in life. Lady Luck and the Man up above have certainly taken good care of me!!!

Now on the lighter side, I just spoke to the truck driver again and he said he'll be here in about 3-4 hours! Whoa daddy! The Mags 'in heat'!

and what a nice day to get it (it is up here anyway)

I'm glad everything has worked out for the absolute best over with that 'foriegn' Porsche dealer, things can get quickly blown out of proportion on the internet... and when it is for something that you have a huge and real invested stake in, I can imagine the fustration.
