Default What's a good point & shoot camera for less than $400?

I think the title explains itself. My current cheap-o point & shooter's falling apart and it's quite literally held together by a piece of tape.

When I say point & shooter, I don't necessarily mean tiny thin cameras. In fact, I don't care about the size. What I want is most performance per value from something that's relatively easy on my wallet, and easy to use with least compromise on abilities.

So... I could just get one according to what the internet says, or maybe someone on MW's had a camera that I'm looking for.

Any comment would help. Thanks in advance.

Kodak fan . . . Z712 or Z812. The 712's can be had for 200 at Sam's Club.
