How elitist of Bernie and F1 to not allow me to enter my WRX in the F1 Championship this season, I was keen but apparently my car isn't good enough....

how elite was the Monaro last year? oh, was he an exotic owner?

I can understand wanting to limit slots for liability reasons... but why cant a group of enthusiasts run together?

i think the real question is what group are you in, and lets get together and have some fun.

but hey, its not my event, nor my place...

The magazine came with the Monaro, but we weren't told about it until too late.

People we know (keep out the dickheads) who have cars that can keep up (i.e. close to or above 300).

There's room for a 3rd on this 3-some - just bring the beer and body lotion.

But you have a fast car.....

I feel like I'm talking to a 10yo not someone more than 3 times that age.

"Requirements":

1. People we know, so we know who is coming (and therefore eliminate dickheads as what we are doing is dangerous in a way).

AND

2. People who own cars that can keep up with the pack.

I never said being a dickhead was related to owning a slow car.

answered the questions, and as i said, its not my event

granted... i'll eventually be setting up some high speed event where 200 mph (is that about 330?) is the magic mark... but that wont be on public roads... and will need to be kept down to just a few cars for liablity reasons.

I'm pretty sure this can hang with a Ferrari 348

I know RC is only stirring for the sake of it (spurred on by what happened in the WYST) section, but in the end this is an event for a group of friends and we decide who comes along - tough luck if some people disagree.

Just enjoy the pics and videos that will come from this event......

200mph = 322kmh.

The max last year was 332kmh (205mph), and as you say safety is also a concern (even more so since we are doing it on public roads). We don't want 25 cars coming along, too much organisation involved in trying to keep everyone alive.

hence why I never claimed that I wasn't a dickhead.

stirring things up is what RC does best and of course we're looking forward to pictures, and videos... what kind of video camera will you be using?

322 kph... yah.... i just got to find the runway that will let me do it for super-cheap, and is long enough. I don't see this happening until next spring/early summer.

I'll just be using my Panasonic Mini DV, nothing spectacular - others will have them too. With the camera mounts we should be able to get better footage than last year.

You're gonna need a long runway to reach 320+, can't you just go out to some deserted roads (Nevada??) and do it? Just make sure the cops are asleep....

Actually, 200mph in a standing mile (half a runway) is the norm for the cars we would take out to sessions like this.
