Mercedes-Benz Vision CLS
A coupé generation ahead of the rest (press release)
Frankfurt -- Mercedes-Benz is unveiling its Vision CLS coupé study at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. This new and exciting vehicle concept is the first to combine the elegance and dynamism of a coupé with the comfort and practicality of a full-fledged saloon.
"Our Vision CLS is a coupé generation ahead of the rest," says Professor Jürgen Hubbert, member of the DaimlerChrysler AG Board of Management and head of the Mercedes Car Group. "The idea of a four-door coupé opens up exciting possibilities. Featuring a sophisticated design and exclusive interior appointments, the Vision CLS is aimed primarily at people who have a passion for motor cars and motoring."
Based on a unique synthesis of coupé and saloon, the concept car displays elegant yet instantly dramatic lines and all the classic Mercedes comfort, innovation and safety hallmarks – the perfect blend of passion and practicality. And the same is true of the powerful diesel engine, its 195 kW and 265 hp providing the drive for a truly dynamic driving experience. The power plant propels the Vision CLS from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds and enables it to reach a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). Furthermore, this impressive performance does not cost the earth: the six-cylinder engine consumes 7.5 litres of fuel per 100 km and is fully compliant with the strict EU-4 emission standard.

I like the car, but IMO it's so stupid to create a 4 doors coupé... next time we will se a cabrio with fixed roof...

Yeh, they wanted to create something between the S and the CL... why? I hate when manufacturers try so hard to create new classes where to dominate for a while ... :-/

I've never seen this Honda before. And I hope I won't be seeing that Merc again. What a dumb idea. And that BS about being 'ahead of the rest'.... Oh, please. :x

Autospy was raving about the new CLS, and I really couldn't see what all the hype was about... It's a really nice car indeed, but on paper it doesn't seem to breath-taking as other cars... but i guess that can be said for alot of the current mercedes range. i'm sure the car will take my breath away when i see in for real. the thing i'm dissapointed in is that the interior seems like the parts were taken directly from the E-class. i would have liked to see a new design, rather than recycles parts, such as the seats, the center console, and some other parts... i guess they had so save some money somewhere to make profit...

It is a nice try. The car looks ok, probably the performance will also be ok. BUT I agree, a coupe has TWO doors!

 That is hideous... And the inside is even worse. I need a bucket. It isn't even a coupé, so why call it a coupé?
When I saw the previous SL and the SLK I thought there was hope for MB after all. But it's just getting worse and worse. Soon they're gonna top the ugliness of their saloons from the sixties...
