I've always preffered the M3 in terms of looks and performance to the M5, but i think this one is gonna be a beast with that V10. Thanks for the great pics

Starting to like this car. . . especially the engine.

But yeah Tom, you should see the new ones on the 911, they absolutely destroy the look of the bumper in my opinion.

For a big car such as a 7 Series, or a S Class, or XK it looks alright. But yeah, it doesn't fit well on this car either.

Why do they put plastic engine covers? I'm sure it's magnificent engine to look at too.

It´s not only an engine cover but an airbox too and a very big one 8)

Have a look at this (source Autoweek):

"Another new feature is the M5’s power button. At start up, the driver is given access to 400 hp in a default program, dubbed P400. Depressing the button unleashes P500 and the engine’s full 507 hp wallop along with a more responsive throttle. In P500 BMW says the new car will hit 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and its 155 mph top speed in 14.9 sec. With its speed-limiting chip removed, BMW says its new sedan will reach 205 mph, although company policy prohibits official modification, even at the dealer level. "

I think it is a pretty neat idea cause you don´t really need 507 bhp all the time but they are there when you need them and this way you could also be able to save some gas and take good care of the engine 8)

I just LOVE this car sooooo much

Have you ever seen a BMW engine under the plastics? It really doesn't look nice at all. BMW could learn a thing or two here from Alfa Romeo and their 156 GTA. That engine looks stunning!

But anyway that is a bad ass car! But I still think the E39 M5 looks better than the E60. I must say i'm not that big fan of Chris Bangle. But that engine!!! BMW is gonna win the price for best engine of the again.... As they have done so many times in the last couple of years

This car is bad ass; I'm not too fond of the looks, but the performance this car can dish out will more than make up for that.

Considering that BMW added 2 cylinders to the M5, I wonder what will power the next generation M3?

now that is amazing. If the SMG on the M3 (sport button on, DSC off) is aggressive and quick enough to make the tires squeal going from 1-2 AND 2-3, then i can only imagine how good the new M5's SMG is gonna be...hopefully they'll implement that new SMG into the M3 (7- or 6-speed)
yup its called SMG Geartronic, its 7-speed and makes gear changes in 50 milliseconds
