Default Ong Bak

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368909/

Dang, finally had time to watch a rip, downloaded, original language, no fucking idea about the story, but blood yhell if this isn't by far the best action movie I saw in the last years. The chase sequences (by foot in town or with those weird 3 wheelers later on) are brillant, the fights are spot on, fast, powerfull, not looking too staged. Something crazy. Worth to be seen even without understanding a word. I now need to find a DVD with a language I can fucking understand, but if you never saw Ong Bak, just grab a copy and enjoy the crazy action! The lead actor is great and so quick and his knee moves so great!

I won't dare to say this is Bruce Lee perfection and intensity, but well, it's close IMO, even if it's modernized and for sure there is some sort of Holywood drama, Thai style . Soooooo much better than any western movie as far as fighting goes!

I saw it in the theatre, it was a little grainy and didnt have Hollywood production values, but it had some truly amazing stunts and a very unusual fighting style. The movie that took place in Paris by the same people was more interesting, but I won't say better. I think both were subtitled, which is so much better than dubbing.

I downloaded Ong-Bak a few months ago, but totally forgot about it. I think I'm gonna watch it right now, thanks for reminding me!

I already saw Tom Yum Goong, very impressive movie, martial arts wise.

I have the DVD, it shows how some of the stunts were performed. Many of them are indeed real.
Remember the part where he drives his knee into the dudes head, cracking the helmet in half? He actuall did that.
He also lit himself on fire with no safety protection.

The actions sequences were really good, but i think that the fighting got too repetitive... I don't know... Just had this feeling.

The story is a mere excuse for the action, but thats how most of these kind of movies are, so it's not to blame.

Overall i'd give it a 6/10

Saw both the first and the second part, the main character is some sort of muay-thai champion in real life so he could easily perform those stunts by himself Not such a great movie, but real great action! Typical Asian fighting movie I guess

The guy hits the opponent with his elbos as I remember, never seen that before. Fight scene in a club early on was the best. Over the top, James Bond secret lair ending was a little too much.
