Houston is probably not the best tourist city - like New York etc... there are activities (depending on season) Baseball, Football, Basketball, Rodeo (more than just cowpokes BTW), Autoshows and the city itself.
Space Center (NASA) and the Theater District... and maybe the historic sites of some battles.
San Antonio has the The Alamo and some other history going for it.. Dallas the JFK assination site..
And of course all three cities have Theme Parks.
For the summer there is the "biggest waterpark in the world" about 3 hours outside Houston...
...but no Hollwood or Disney crap etc... - but we do have a bunch of exotic car dealerships...

Now that you mention it - the Houston medical center is very wlel known for all sorts of procedures - from sex changes (BTW, how did yours go? ) to the most up-to-date cancer research.. and a very advanced Parkinsons Disease research facility...
