20 inches is no joke man....you can drown in 2 inches of water, and the rule of thumb is 6 inches of fast-flowing water is enough to sweep someone off their feet. Granted, 20 inches is something I wouldn't be too worried about if I was out in the water, but it's enough to endanger people, on the beach, that's for sure.

Are you stupid, or just joking? 20 inches of fast flowing water can easily sweep you off your feet and drown you.

Is it just me or are people getting dumber and dumber each day? One day certain people come up with the idea that certain countries dont know what a nuclear weapon can cause, or certain cars with certain engines and certain bodies will do 240mph, and that half a meter of rain is as bad bird taking a piss...

Oy......ze future generation is doomed.......and I'm a part of it

it does sound a bit ridiculous a 20 inch tsunami lol. tsunamis should be measured in feet. but i can also see where 20 inches of rushing water could be dangerous for little kids and such. does 20 inches constitute a tsunami warning probably not, that sounds pretty extreme to me, but it is something that people should be warned of.

When will you fucking people understand that this is not 50 cm. of rain? It's 50 cm of water moving at extremely high speed. It will easily fuck you up. I would go as far as sayin that 50 cm of water at high speed could easily move your car.

yer if u are a retard that considers a bath a "deep body of water"
Please document yourself a little better and edit that post where you're implying I am the retarded one.

Not many cars can run in half a meter of water
But with enough speed, sure the cars will go.
We're not talking about standing water here. The force of fast-moving water is overwhelming. You have to experience it to believe it.

Actually you're wrong. After spending a year and a half living there, I'm probably as qualified as any on here on JW (excluding native Japanese members at any rate). Parts of Japan, i.e. major cities and ports have sea walls to deal with tsunami and the typhoons that hit every year. However, I'd wager that 90% of the country is NOT so surrounded and is thus vulnerable, especially on the southern islands where many people go to vacation on the beaches, and where 20 inches of fast-moving water could do a lot of harm.
