This was posted on ferrarichat by a member who just got back from the ferrari factory:

THE F149

Revised launch is Paris 08.
First deliveries last quarter 08

Car is full metal roof convertible, which fully automatically folds into the body (similar to SL65)
circa 500BHP
Priced sub F430
Looks are similar to F599 but progressive from that model
Rear seats similar to SL65 configuration (will do for short journeys or kids)
Car to be aimed at a new market to compete in circa SL55 marketplace
This car from the images looks great.
Dealers have been shown near enough finished models.

You mean those half-assed shelves?

I hope they don't call it a Dino. And I can't believe Ferrari's committed to this. Isn't that market oversaturated? Isn't that going to encroach on Maserati Gran Turismo's sales?

Not really, the California, Dino or whatever is supposed to be cheaper but close to the F430 price (circa 180) so lets say they ask 160 for it. The most expensive Maserati GT is 135 or something among that. The California will be a hard top convertible and the GT is coupe so there won't be much of a competition there.

Does this not suggest it's going to be a Maserati?

Only problem Masser will have with trying to produce a 911 rival, is the reliability factor - Porsche make a reasonably priced bullet proof car that people enjoy driving hard - not exactly the market Ferrari or Maserati are known to support.

Rumor is that the new Ferrari will be unveiled during the Paris Motor Show this year
Before you read this, go to the kitchen and get the biggest grain of kosher salt you can find. Dig around until you've got a big one. Ready? Okay: rumors are circulating that Hot Wheels has spilled the proverbial beans on the arrival of a new Ferrari Dino. Sounds a little ridiculous, but not entirely outside the realm of possibility. Mattel's Hot Wheels brand has the exclusive rights to make scale model Ferraris, and as such may be privy to advanced information on what Maranello's developing in order to get scale models to market efficiently. The word comes from the Diecast Legends website, an online model retailer that is now taking pre-orders on the claim that Mattel announced a 1/18 scale replica of the new Dino for the Hot Wheels Elite line. It's worth noting, though, that the penchant for jumping the gun on the part of diecast retailers is notorious among collectors, and this may very well be just another case.

With all the spy shots we've shown, however, it seems more than likely that Ferrari is indeed working on a new entry-level model. (Naysayers will insist the test mule spied is actually an upcoming Maserati.) But after years of denying such a car was in the pipeline, Ferrari chiefs Luca di Montezemolo and Jean Todt reportedly announced that a new (though unspecified) Ferrari would be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show this coming fall. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
