Default The Future of DTM

Basically i think its going to be a golden future. Ex F1 stars are joinin in the grid along with another manufacture! Fantastic stuff!...I do feel however that BMW should join in on the action with DTM as the new 3 series would look amazing in this class. Anyone agree?..what other manufactures would auite DTM?

Also i dont realy now what the specifications of the DTM cars are. My only guideline is Gran Turismo but i would want re assurance from someone who knows. E.g. power output, weight, top speed, 0-60 etc

thanks

From 1990 the DTM has been the technological touring car...for instance during the 1995..the DTMs technological level was superior to the formula 1 due to its freedom, and alongside the BTCC, and the Australian touring car championship, just the best touring car championship ever........about the former Formula 1 drivers line-up......the DTM has been always a good scenario for ex-formula 1 drivers because of the high technological level of cars and the performances of them (always superior to the alternative touring car championships such as the BTCC, the french supertourisme, the italian superturismo.......) and therefore the formula 1 drivers dont get as bored as when they compete in any car under 300 bhp......

About the fact that the BMW should take part....simply...the main rivals of BMW, Mercedes and Audi do force quite a lot BMW to take part in this championship(merc and Audi have been taking part in the DTM since 1990), but the BMW has never taken part yet in this championship for one reason or for another.......

BMW was involved in the DTM A couple of years ago with the legendary M3(e30) DTM. Its hard though for BMW to enter now DTM since it is very much involved in Formula 1. It also races in the ETCC, and in some selected FIA-GT races. <---- M3(e46) GTR V8.

I think that if more compnanies enter DTM then it should overpass F1 easily. Imagine the grid: Audi, Mercedes, Opel, BMW, Alfa Romeo.

don't forget the JGTC. that is equally just as good. regards to the V8 supercars, it isn't that great. its like f1 now, very few passing. most passes are done by nudging someone off the track but they get penalised anyways. plus its only two manufacturers where there is NO encouragment for other manufactueres to enter.

i also believe that you cant compare DTM with F1. DTM shows what sort of thigns can be done to road legal cars to make fly like a bat out of hell. And people will relate the cars to everyday use. As for F1 it is amazing at the technology. Without it we would not have as safe cars, ABS, traction control and engine design. Until michael shumacher retires, the F1 championship would be crap.

I do beleive the number of different manufactures in a series makes a difference. I remember in 1998 the BTCC was fantastic. Volvo, Audi, Vauxhall, Renualt, Ford, Honda.....a fantasic grid. But in the last few years their have only been 3 manufactres competeing and it has lost its appeal. I think 550bhp should be the output of the cars ....make it faster!

Dani ur right I didnt make myself clear. What I wanted to say is that I thknk that the DTM can easily overpass F1 as far as the TV spectators is concerned.

Well it should becuase it is more Entertaining!...however only ITV show F1 and you can never see a F1 year review any other time in the year because ITV bought al the rights. Which stinks in my opinion....with JGTC and the GT chammpionships, i cant find long distance racing entertaining, (except le mans which is legend)..if the JGTC and GT was a series of spring races and actualy covered on British TV i would love to watch em!...Moto GP is by far the most entertaining motorsport ever!!

Long live Rossi!

Nah...Nascar beats Moto GP any day of the week j/k I'm pretty excited for the new DTM, though I doubt it'll have the cachet and excitement of the early 90's DTM championships. They were incredible. The Alfa 155 is still one of the most brutal looking cars ever to have competed as far as I'm concerned.
