Default AstonMartin V8 VANTAGE - photoshooting @ Premiere 45pics!

Back in June, 28th of June, the V8 VAntage was presented in Zürich.

(they were doing a tour thru Europe with the two existing cars, the yellow and the "classic" green one the showed at Geneva Carshow)
The yellow one was presented at the local cardealer, and of course, I had to go there to take pictures

truck waiting outside of the dealership

According to AM staff, the yellow color was choosen to get big attention at the Geneva Show. The serie production shall have the usual classic colors like dark green, black, grey or so.
However, I like the idea of having a "fresh", "young", "dynamic" V8 in yellow
For sales reason too, I think this would be a good idea to attract customers which would buy a Gallardo instead.

What is your opinion on the color ?

The desing of the car is awesome, classic AM shape

It was very difficult to shoot pictures because of the 4 beam-lights standing around the car to present it, but I'm quite proud of the result

Beatiful car, but i have to say I think the colour is absolutely disgusting. Astons shouldn't have to shout to command attention, and AM should not have to sink to such levels to attention seek in a motor show.

On a lighter note - nice pics 8)

there are 3 possibilities to get attention:
1. build a huge, fancy, whatever stand
2. choose an unusual color
3. load the stand with sexy girls ( which most of us would have preferred)

AM took #2

Lol interesting theory, I think we've all seen those techniques used by manufacturers in the past.

I just think that with a brand like Aston Martin, and with a car as important as this, they didn't need to do a special colour or any other drastic promotion at the motor show. I think the car should just speak for itself, especially as everybody knew it was coming, and most ppl couldn't wait to see what it could do even before the official press launch!

Great set of pics and lovely sounding vid. It's always nice to attend a Première. I've seen the car in yellow, dark green/grey, and silver grey/blue. And I agree with astonmartinandy. It doesn't look good in flashy yellow. I like the dark green/grey the most.

I think a bordeau red one or a really dark blue one would be a nice, but unusual, colour for the new V8 vantage.

On one side, I agree with you : AM dosn't have to proove themselve, the brand is cool enough and well known

on the other side, they have to "fight" against a Gallardo, a 911TT, ... and in the coverage of the Geneva Salon, i.e. on the front page of the official magazine/guide, the AM V8 was in the middle of the page (largest pics off all).... and everybody saw pics of the 3 white/pearl colored Lambos, but the 911 ?

maybe the V8 wouldn't have been on the cover, if the color was darkgreen...

Such cars really only need to "shout for attention" from the masses who will never actually buy them - the masses who go to the shows to see them are NOT the customers of the car..

So you are correct - in order to sell more programs or get more visitors to the show (which as we know are NOT the primary market for the car) you need flashy and garish colours..

Except for a premiere event to brag about who had already pre-ordered a million dollar car and then hopefully shame another uber-wealthy customer into ordering a car because "so and so" did, I doubt any luxury/exotic was ever sold to a casual show goer..

I mean, does anyone really believe some wealthy punter was just walking around and suddenly stumbled on the Maybach display and said "Wow - I want that yellow limo instead of the Benz 5 rows back"

Or more unbelieveable, a bloke sees the cover of a Show Program and yelps for glee at the Bright Orange Rolls that commands center stage on the cover

Let's face it - the shows are just for the unwashed masses to see what the Stinking Rich are going to be flaunting next season... heheh

Nice pictures by the way - but AM needed have gone this route to impress the uneducated masses

I think, the PR rules are the same also in the luxury section , the car getting most attraction and/or feedback in (the right) magazines are "in", and suddenly it's a "must have" ...
imaging one guy is going to buy a Gallardo in a bright color (orange or yellow) and then he has the opportunity to be the first with a yellow V8 ...
he'll go for the V8 (because yellow Gallardos are everywhere)

To be the first / or only guy having a certain car is for sure a big issue for these customers. The need to have a different car than the colleque from the golf club.

In my oppinion, AM could get younger customers with that strategy,
but
to be honest I doubt they will show more cars in yellow at the cardealers.

Thanks for these nice pics.

I will see it on the IAA next week since they have a german boss they make
better cars then the old ones. They were also good, but the new ones look better.

My point is that this segment of the market doesn't buy based on what made the cover of a program or magazine... or what was the most eye-catching stand at the autoshow...
