Default Canon 20D or Digital Rebel XT?

I'm about to get myself a nicer camera. My cybershot and the Canon SD450 can't do most of the stuff I want them to do (example: Play with the exposure time).
As far as I know B&H on 34th st is the best place for cameras and accessories, so I'll probably pick on up from there.
But here's my question...
I'm debating between 20D and Digital Rebel XT.
I'm looking at their website and the

EOS 20D, 8.2 Megapixel, SLR, Digital Camera with Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6
Price : $ 1,559.95

and

EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D) 8.0 Megapixel, SLR, Digital Camera (Black) with Canon 17-85mm EF-S IS USM Lens
Price After Rebate: $ 1,069.95

So whats the $500 price justification. I don't mind paying it, but is it worth it? I'm not too informed about the different lenses, so is there a big difference between the 2 lenses listed?
Any other info and advice is appreciated!

if you really have the money for the 20D why are you even think of getting a lower class 350D lol :prr:

20Dis a newer cam and definetly has a better processor and can be really great when taking continous sequence shots, but if you dont really goto trackdays and all the rebel isnt bad either
btw http://www.dpreview.com < side by side comparison

The 2 lenses listed are the same, and crap IMHO. Bite the bullet and get a 17-40 f/4 L if you've got the money.

About the 350D vs 20D: go to a local camerastore and hold them both. IMHO getting the 20D is a no-brainer.....

yep

and dont buy the lens kit.... 20D's themselves should be going for $1250 or below as a body alone; particularly since the 30D is out now.

Well, you could get the 18-55 for $50 or so if you don't have a lens at all.

20d was alot more comfortable in my hand. the rebel is considerably smaller and differently shaped. that was the main reason i chose to get hte 20d over the rebel. plus the extra fps burst is nice

20...20...20...I know that a few of us on this board own this camera(me being one of them), and I truly think that they would all say that you cannot go wrong with it. Oh, and I also bought my 20D from B&H as well, except I did it online, but they had good customer service. I don't think you can go wrong with them.

i got mine body only for like 1128 from dell last year. ahh dell is great for everything but computers lol

and btw, dell has the 30d for 1400-10%... i think you can find some extra discount codes or whatver on ebay. so with its normal current discount its about hte same as it is at bH but after the extra stuff you can save alittle money. keep in mind taxes too though, just trying to help : )
