Default question about Canon and Nikon Cameras

I know that Canon got 10D/20D/30D/40D -series cameras and simple versions like 300D/350D/400D/450D

what about Nikons
is Nikon D60 rival to Canon 450D ?
and Nikons D80 more like Canons 40D ?
am I right ?
What rivals got Nikon for Canon cameras ?
thanx guys

I guess you can define SLR cameras into three categories
- Professional: e.g. Canon EOS 1D Mk II,III, Nikon D3, Nikon D2XS
- Prosumer: E.g. Canon 5D, 40D, Nikon D200, 300
- Consumer (Amateur): Canon Rebel range (450D...), Nikon D40,50,60,80

The Prosumer cameras tend to be more rugged, larger sized to support long lenses, have more controls on the camera body, more adjustment options compared to the consumer cameras. The Professional cameras take these parameters to the extreme compared to the prosumer cameras.
