Dont buy any FX card unless your getting the 5900.

They are shit, slow FPS, the Geforce 4Ti's smoke them. The only advantage they got are the dx9 goodies.

The New ATI's are by far the best cards 9800 XT is better than the top Nvidia. I've compared them both on the same machine. There are new ATI's out this week but they aren't a new level it's just new All-in-wonder for the 9800 and they all have new boxes. If you want a good deal just go to www.pricewatch.com

Well, also depends on the game,
after finishing Halo on the Xbox I decided to go for the PC version. Initially I tried it with the standard ATI 9200 that I had in my system. The result was not impressive. Having only used ATI cards for the last few years, I went out and got a ATI Radeon 9600XT, better speed but not great. I took it back and got the ASUS GeForce FX 5600 128MB, what a difference...HALO runs great.
Some games seem to be optimized for a specific video cars, that might be the case with HAlO.

Actually halo runs great on my 9800XT I prefer to stick to the newer stuff. I prefer the ATI's after using Nvidia's for years but after having one in my Mac I had to change and they are amazing. the driver support and updates are way better with ATI also.

lol you're comparing a 9800xt a 5600 obviously the 9800 will run better, but the 5700u is doing pretty good. Although I'm not sure how it does in dx9 games.
