Default Evo #114

This month's evo

What would make Aston’s V8 Vantage better? How about putting a race V12 in it and calling it the V12 Vantage RS? Also this month, the great evo Grand Challenge. Four cars worth two beans between them race it out on track.

9th January 2008

News
The Focus RS is back! We’ve got all the details. Plus there’s a diary page chock-full of everything you should try and catch in 2008

Letters
Phil Bennett says we should be proud of the records set by Radicals at the Nürburgring, and apparently you think the Nissan GT-R is overpriced but understarred
Driven
Jaguar XF SV8, Ford shelby GT, Porsche 911 Carrera, Vauxhall Corsa 888, Citroen C2-R2 Max

Fiesta ST185
The Fiesta ST has always been a bit ho-hum, but with a little bit of help from the boys at Roush it’s now all hi-ho silver lining. David Vivian has the score

Aston RS
What would make Aston’s V8 Vantage better? How about calling it the V12 Vantage? Even better, why not put a race V12 in it and call it the V12 Vantage RS?

Aston N400
Earlier this year Richard Meaden drove an Aston in the Nürburgring 24 hours. Now there’s a road car to celebrate the success of the racers, so he’s having a drive in that too

Subaru Impreza RA-R
We hunt down some of the World Rally Championship chaps in the ultimate old-school Impreza

Road Test: Maserati GranTurismo
Some people think the headline for this feature should have been ‘Trident Tested’

Infiniti G37S
Never heard of one before? Well how does rear-wheel drive, 330bhp and £31K sound? Jethro Bovingdon goes to Switzerland and plays in the snow

evo Grand Challenge
We gave four teams of evo staffers a bag of sand each and told them to buy cars. AutoTrader didn’t know what had hit it…

Subscriptions
Parkinson used to get the grey envelope sent to his dressing room. Now it’ll go to his home, I assume

Buying Guide: TVR T350
Buy a second-hand TVR? Surely we must have had one too many mince pies with our sherry…

Long-term tests
The Clio and the Navara have gone, and the 335i will soon be off too. Question is, will it have any tread left on its rear tyres by then?

evo Sport
Catchpole had a full Nick Heidfeld beard for the final round of the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup. Fortunately he’s wearing a helmet in the photos

The Knowledge
Some say Ben Collins updates it every month. Others think that we make it all up. All we know is that it’s called The Knowledge

Birth of an Icon: Jaguar E-Type
With the new new XF launched this month, we look back at when Jaguars ruled the world
