It is a matter of the point of view... You could have added it to the existing thread though.

Indeed. The GS is the 5-series competitor, and of course the LS vs 7-series.

you could argue SC430 vs 645 as well I guess
It's a competitor....not a poor man's version of something. IMO buying Lexus is a matter of personal choice. Lexus tho didn't surpass Bimmer in the most performance area, but their after sales service is excellent, and so is their reliability and resale value.

Lexus is one of the cars with which you will have minimal number of problems.

my guess is that Lexus wanted to make the new IS ugly enough that ricers didn't want to copy it anymore. i'd say they succeeded.

I really like it, the exterior that is. The center dash looks good, but the passenger dash, bleh! it's plain, and horrid!. They coul've atleast put a strip of wood accross it. Once again, the interior is the weak point.

I like how FINALLY Lexus have a signature style.. with the chrome bits around the lights and the rear and most prominant the C pillar "kick ups" Its bland but a more acceptable nice bland. I'd still have a 159, 3 Series or A4 over it though.
