Default Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow, Texas style

Well it was 60 degrees F in Fort Worth yesterday, and an 'arctic front' is pushing south. The first of the winter weather has arrived. I am glad I have finished work for christmas.

RC, Samerrao, no doubt the weather will be with you by nightfall, if it's not hit you already...

Wish I'd bought an S4 now LOL!!! Today I shall be avoiding first gear...

Sorry for crap photos BTW!

Pool looks tempting...not

haha, you southern guys always freak out when snow arrives

my uncle used to live in Georgia, and he said that whenver it would snow even half an inch nobody would leave their houses or go to work since they dont' know how to drive in slippery conditions

personally i enjoy snow, though. its fun to slide around in.
I'm sure you can have some fun with your car as well

In the 20 months I have lived here this is the second time - it snowed Valentines Day 2004.

Houston is on the Gulf of Mexico coast though, so maybe they won't get any snow at all on second thoughts.

In the north UK it can be the same - I live on the coast there - no snow but go 15 miles inland and where the hills are - and it's covered!

Which coast do you live on? Are you on the Hull/Whitby side, or the Liverpool/Blackpool side?

Fylde coast - Blackpool area

The hilly bits I refer to are sort of where Blackburn and Clitheroe are

^^ Its just as bad down here in the westcountry, (which you'd probably remember Trans Am) all the snow had melted down in the towns, but 5 minutes into the hills (quantocks if you remember em Trans) me mate was snowed in!!!
Crazy weather, but good fun mucking around in it!
I hope its a white christmas this year!

Yep - out past Kingston St Mary if I recall. I remember them well - much dogwalking took place up there. The last pic I took of the Civic before I left the UK was taken on the Quantocks - you might even recognise the spot it was taken.

I lived in Creech St Michael so was pretty close to the foothills.

as it was explained to me (i;m originally from Seattle and i've only lived here about 6 months):

Coon-ass is a derogatory term that derived from the French word coonas (koo-na), which essentially means 'dirty whore'

The Cajun-French that origianally settled the area were actually exiles from France. (The reason, i am unsure of, perhaps a history buff can fill in the blanks).

In WWII a battalion from Louisiana met up with a battalion from France. The French, thinking that this group was just another bunch of Americans, began speaking their language around them and were shocked to realize that the American soldiers could all speak it too!

When the French discovered who they really were, they began referring to them as the "Coonas from Louisiana". Well, it kinda stuck, and since then it has evolved into Coon-Ass

(for the first two months everyone kept teling me that they were going to turn me into a Coon-Ass soon enough, but no one would explain to me what it meant )

I thought you meant Coon, as in derogatory term for coloured person and I thought that was a bit harsh!!

Thanks for explaining that, you may or may not know I am actually English and am just working here in the US for a while, hence I travel about a bit to see the US while I'm here...we went to Lafayette (McGee's) and N.O. in June this year.

It was all good, but we got tailed for about 5 miles on I-10 in the WS6 by a state trooper. Maybe cos I have 75% tint and they thought I was a drug runner or something. He sat right in my blind spot and I nearly rolled down the window to ask what the fuck he wanted. Scarey but I had nothing to hide other than a heavy right foot LOL

When I came back to work after the holiday I was talking to some of the guys in the office here in TX - they reckon the police in LA plant drugs on people so I am glad I didn't wind the cop up
