Default Need new laptop

So as most of you know i am going to america in a few weeks. While I am there I want to get myself a new laptop.

The things it must have:
- 1 Gb of RAM
- 100 Gb hard drive or more
- 15.4 inch screen or more
- at least 2.5 hours of use on each charge
- it must look good
- as for graphics about 256 mb i think
- DVD burner

a few thing i would like to have but its ok if the computer doesnt have them:
- memory card adaptor
- built in web cam
- built in finger print scanner

my buget is around 1000-1400 U.S dollars.

However I must get it in Boston since i need it for the rest of my trip. I can get it in a shop or i can order it on a website.

I love the sony vaio range but there are so many i dont know what to get.

So what do you think is best? What should i get?

ohh. One last thing. It must be from a well known company. I dont want some company no one ever heard of.

Well they do look a bit to Officelike, I agree, but they are decent though, a friend of my had a acer one and it wasn't very good

But styling isn't the best point of Toshiba I agree

Some small things, from connections not working to other software things, I say software because it probably was windows causing the problem, but since we couldn't solve the problem by installing Windows over and over again we gave up, it was something hardware in the end, may overheated??

Now don't get me wrong, my friend got a new laptop after that one and again that was an Acer, they are good laptops and Im pretty sure nothings wrong with them, he hasn't had any problems so far

Toshiba is more expensive, but I have a good history with them. Acer really is value for money

i always had great luck with IBM, Dell, and Toshiba laptops

the proof of the pudding so to speak is in the components, i would reccomend doing research on the laptops you like, and seeing who makes the motherboard, battery, and hard drives, then pick.

A bit short on graphics memory, but it is a dedicated, non-integrated video card. Has everything else it looks like you need.

I think the part of the vid card is too much to ask in that pricerange. Other than that its achievable.
