What isn't that easy would be to pick a top 3 - it would probably be the S1, the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo and the Lancia Delta S4 (that I started to adore last weekend at San Marino - such a crazy car!!)
From the rwd group cars i prefur the opel manta 400 best tharmac car i beat the awd supercars on rally's like the circuit of ireland and the renault 5 maxi turbo
For the awd group b rallycars the lancia delta s4 ford rs 200 and the peugot 205 t16 and the audi s1.

You have got some interesting choises in the poll though. Like the Citroen BX, I think that only contested one rally and was never seen again. And the Opel Manta and some other cars that never really made it in a world class level.
The opel manta 400 is meant for the national rally championship and for the european rally championship.

I voted for the RS200.. that thing was so fucking tiny compared to some of the others, it was mid engined, AND was capable over over 500hp+

The Peugeot 205 T16 is my personal favorite. I still have a poster of this car hanging above my bed.

I think for tarmac endurance rally events the opel manta 400 is king.
Great examples of a opel manta 400's on tarmac

Tiny? They aren't huge for sure... but no MG Metro.

500+ hp? Stig Blomquist personal RS200 street car RS200 Evo is 700 + hp even today

Also my favorite rally car.

Even the group A cars were faster than the group B from 1991 (just 16 years ago now)

On the other hand, about the ultimate group B car, for me the favourite one is the pug 205 Turbo 16 Evo II, simply because it was the most proficient car on tarmac, gravel...wherever, a very fast car, very reliable.....when the group was banned in 1986

Their few updated 6r4 cars around

Here interesting comment
About a one who drove a ford focuswrc and now drives 6r4
Whit the mods and setup the 6r4 can be just as good as any current wrc car and much more fun to drive and watch.
The car handles very similarly to the 99 focuswrc i had but turns in alot better. i got the car set up at ali burrows motorsport who sets up rallycross cars . the acceleration is alot better than the 2002focus it had and the brakes just as good. I need now the get my braking right i was braking way to early on sat . I have i car video system but forgot to bring it with me on sat but will on sat 20th at the new year stages at kirkstown again hope to photos by 1 today. was really happy with the car on sat and the gearbox the clutch release bearing was a new hydraulic one just one of those things . i have two more events before the championship starts to get all the problems sorted. also got a new major sponsor signed up on sat that i was not expecting as he was impressed with car which means i can do a few more events next year.

And read this
Note the tread below some of these accely drive the 6r4 in rally's

Tony pond drove for mg in the and he said that the mg metro 6r4 had better handling than all the other group b rallycars.

The Audi S1 has to be the ultimate, noise alone wins that for it. I remember when I was at school, following the British Rally Championship, for years Audi had dominated the loose surface rounds of the championship but when it came to the sealed surface events they always got beat by the Manta 400's, then one weekend in 1984 all that changed, Walter Rohrl had sent his co-driver over to Northern Ireland a few days prior to the start of the Ulster Rally to take pace notes, Rohrl then just drove the stages that would be run in darkness once to check the notes, the daylight ones he just trusted his co-driver! He then set off on a rally he had never competed in before and gave the established drivers a demonstration in driving. Here is a film of that ultimate combination of Rohrl and Audi S1.
