Default Blocking P2P and Messenger Services?

Does anyone here knows how to succesfully block P2P applications and Messenger services (msn, yahoo,etc..) ? I've gone up and down the internet looking for it, but nothing seems to work.. anyone?

they operate on specific ports, you can shut down the specific ports in your firewall.

look up "MSN ports" and "yahoo ports" and the various p2p ports.

why would you want to shut them down? they wont run if they aren't running...

I had a problem with an employee hogging all the bandwidth by using bit torrent etc, he is a good worker though so I didn't want to get rid of him, anyway my solution was.

BLOCK all ports and just leave open the ones for http and emails etc...works perfectly, and then I have a timer built into the router that allows them to become open again for him, outside of office hours...

Yep most of the people have been working here for over 15 years and in some cases 20 + years, its more like a "cult" than a job, although no one is forced to stay of course, in fact, they often have to be "forced" to go home...LOL and you thought JW was addictive !!

Yep no idea how or why it happens, when we started JW, it took less than 5 secs to think of the name, although big mistake there, but only because I thought the forum would last of all 5 seconds and get no more than 5 members..LOL...how wrong you can be sometimes...it seems...

Yep we had Robert De Niro here last month, and I am itching to post some pictures up, but sadly at the moment I could get into some serious shit for doing so. Just so that no one calls BS though, Arman has seen a couple of preview snaps of Mr De Niro.
