Default It will never end. Two more Need for Speed titles on the way.

Need for Speed: Undercover

NFS's new chick du jour, Maggie Q

June 18, 2008 - To no one's surprise, EA is set to release the next installment in the Need for Speed franchise later this year in the form of Need for Speed: Undercover. In an interview with gamesindustry.biz, Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello said that the title is in development from one of EA Vancouver's two NFS teams. He also hinted that its inspiration comes from movies like The Transporter, though we'll have to wait and see what he means by that.

The single previous Need for Speed team was split into two last year to allow each of the two teams more time to create yearly updates for the franchise. Rather than giving one team only 12 months to create the next installment, each team would now have a full two years, with the teams trading release years, obviously. Being that the team was only split last year, the Undercover team will only have a little over 16 months to create the title, but the extra breathing room must certainly welcome in any case.

In the interview, Riccitiello also discussed his disappointment with last year's Need for Speed ProStreet, and said that the reason for splitting the team into to two was to help insure that future titles would actually be a worthy experience.

No consoles were specified for Undercover, but given the franchise's history, we'd expect to see it hit every major system.

zzzzZZZZzzz... oh man i just hope they will financially ruin the franchise since they have bastardized it so much from what it has originally been... so sad to see the brand take a straight dive down the shitter.

also the models they get are just getting lamer, man that chick doesn't even have any charisma, what a broad... blergh

I played Carbon ... it was bad.. i think they're trying to make the game EASIER for teens and whoever to play.. I remeber there being a scout and blocker and etc etc.. and im like "are you serious? you can't win a race without them? lies." and when i played for the little i did.. i never used them. They also try to add Drift and etc, trying to bring it close to other game aspects.. and they fail horribly.. drifting in that game is so unrealistic and difficult... pathetic.

I agree with silentm. the model in the games are getting lamer... no offense to anyone, but this girl is too skinny -_-. maybe it's time they stop with NFS.

i liked nfs underground 2 that for me was the ultimate nfs game couse you could change almoust ewerything in the car you ''owned''. anyway the pro street was a bit better than carbon, so i'm still hoping.

Bring back hot pursuit! Speeding in your supercar while coppers chase you and helicopters throw explosive barrels at you! If I could afford to blow up the few Ferraris I have in real life I would do in the same way, but untill then a modern version of the game would be great.

oh wait so you expect a game labeled after a car brand to have different car brands?

They kind of are with this new version, but its more like the sequel to Most Wanted, and I must be the only one on this site that actually enjoys the NFS series (Save for of course Carbon which was a total piece of crap) and Pro Street was good but shouldn't have been released under the NFS name. Just wasn't anywhere near NFS series at all. So I am looking forward to this one.
