Toyota are helping with the tech, it's not the first time Toyota has helped Porsche.

Word is that the Cayenne won't be in production at PAG once the panamera hits the streets, and the hybrid may be a VW only thing in the Toureg.

the cayenne thing kinda makes sense to me, i already heard this updated cayenne's the last one, porsche cant keep evolving that car forever. To replace it with a luxury saloon and get that same kind of hype all over again would be brilliant, and i guess the cayenne and panamera would kind of compete as "sensible" porsches, although obviously im no marketing specialist

Yesterday a report by AutoBild took over auto enthusiast publications that Porsche is working on a compact SUV based on the upcoming Audi Q5 which will carry the name “Porsche Roxter.” Actually, the report also popped up back in March but that’s besides the point. Anyway, later yesterday afternoon Porsche denied in a statement that it is planning a compact SUV in a report made by Dow Jones Newswire.

However, Porsche did copyright the name “Roxer” which led auto magazines to believe the name was registered for a small compact SUV.

The Audi Q5 is already confirmed and will be based on Audi’s Cross Coupe. The SUV will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

I hope that a small SUV really won't go into production. BTW, Roxer is a terrible name for a Porsche!

World Car Fans:
SPY PHOTOS: Porsche’s New GT Coupe
Prototypes?

Rendering:

What kind of monster is Porsche developing? We have seen this Porsche Cayenne-based mule before, and every time we ask ourselves: What can it be? A Lamborghini SUV? A Bentley SUV?

We still don’t know for sure, but this prototype is hammering around the “Ring” with a speed that makes even Michael Schumacher jealous. It is actually one of the fastest cars around the Nürburgring, and the noise it makes is so evil, it makes the hair on your neck stand. At first, Porsche only had two of these mules, but now you can get them in almost every color. We have seen it in gold, black, blue, green and red. Also, we now know a little more than before:

*

First, these mules are rear-wheel-drive only.
*

Second, they are built as light weight cars with no power windows and central-looking, plastic windows in the rear doors and backwards.
*

Third, in normal cases the tires of a SUV are as wide in the front as in the back. But on this mule we can clearly see that’s not the case. The rear tires are much wider.

So, is it going to be a Cayenne RS? Is it a project that Porsche is developing for another brand? Or could it be a new front engine sports car from Porsche based on the new Panamera platform? A 2 door coupe aiming at the BMW 6-series, Maserati GranTurismo and Mercedes CL disguised under a Cayenne body just to make sure we won’t notice? Hopefully, we will get an answer to all these questions in a near future, and till then we will keep on speculating and enjoy pictures of airborne Porsches.

The photos are showing one of the test cars airborn at Nürburgring. It is the only car that is so fast in this spot on the ring that it gets all four tires off the ground, and when it accelerates it visibly burns rubber in a big dark cloud trailing behind. Photo 3 is an artist impression of how an upcoming Porsche GT Coupe could look like.
-- I don't see the point of building a Cayenne RS or any form of high-performance SUV. A Porsche GT sounds very interesting, but hopefully it's more 599/SLR than M6/CL65 AMG

I'm sure it won't be a Cayenne RS with RWD only, that sounds ridiculous. But oh boy, that Porsche GT Coupe rendering looks absolutely stunning!! Really beautiful sleek lines, yet unmistakebly a Porsche! Almost makes a 599GTB look ugly...

Is the 599 such a bad car that a Porsche will easily be better. Even if you don't know the engine it will have ?

More info (but these aren't that recent) from WCF:
While Porsche has not yet officially acknowledged the existence of its GT Coupe project, it is clear that the expansion to a fifth model line will be inevitable, because it is only then that the desirable economies of scale are exploited to their full extent which are rendered possible by the rigorous parts sharing philosophy that Porsche pursues. Hence, the GT Coupe will be spawned directly by the Panamera saloon and share at least 60 % of all parts with the larger 4-door car, including the (shortened) platform, the engines (the most expensive independent component), transmissions (the second most expensive) and suspension corner modules (the third most expensive individual single component of an automobile), amongst others. Special fine-tuning of these components, though, with different electronic mapping and suspension spring and damping rates will ensure that the GT Coupe will provide a much sportier driving experience, as appropriate for the vehicle style. On a broader scheme, parts will also be shared with the equally front engined Cayenne. So expect all three models - Cayenne, Panamera and GT Coupe - to be offered with a range of normally aspirated and turbocharged V8 and V10 engines (the latter derived from the Carrera GT) in a range from 4 to 6 litres of displacement and producing from 300 to 650 hp. However, it is unlikely that the Cayenne’s all-wheel drive will be adopted for the Panamera and the GT Coupe. Traditional rear-wheel drive with weight distribution optimized rear-mounted transaxle-setup of the gearboxes/transmissions is expected, although Audi (A8), Volkswagen (Phaerton) and Bentley (Continental) can all provide customers with the superior traction of all-wheel drive.

Our exclusive spy pictures show the upcoming GT Coupe as a first top-secret test mule, under the skin of a late 928, with considerably wider suspension (note the flared wheel arches), stuffed with costly measurement gear and equipped with trick development technical gear: The prototype is equipped with externally mounted, oversize engine intake and exhaust mufflers, along with externally mounted radiators, which all serve to remove the usually inevitable, superimposed intake and exhaust noises, in order to allow to thoroughly research and hone the brand-new engine, transmission and suspension from the crucial noise, vibration and harshness point of view.

BTW, there's no way any Porsche will look better than a Ferrari, especially the 599
