Well its more of a near production version. they cleaned up some lines and tweaked it a bit. but i think its more about it been shown at NAIAS then anything else.

This is the standard Lancer, that is the new news. Not the EVO.

The rear looks a bit dodgy. It also has an overweight look about it. Nevertheless, it's not bad, just not good.

From a member on NASIOC who saw a few of the new lancers in Santa Barbara:
Hello all,
I was in downtown Santa Barbara, CA this afternoon and saw a container truck loaded with several new Lancers. They all had single exhausts and spoilers, just like the blue one posted by JoeyW, so I imagine they were Lancer Ralliarts. I saw a white one, a metallic green one, and a silver one, all in front of the Hotel Andalucia. I also tried to talk with a guy driving a red one who was stopped in a parking lot next to the hotel, but he was having none of it. They looked pretty nice -- much cleaner and more substantial than I was expecting. The front end, especially, looked a lot better in person than on my computer screen.
If anyone's curious and lives near Santa Barbara, the cars were all either in front of the Hotel Andalucia or across the street at the Shell station. Not very subtle, Mitsubishi. The hotel is off the Carrillo exit of the 101, right near State Street.

It looks like it stole some styling cues from Dodge. Oh God please don't let them work together again!

Delivering on its promise, Mitsubishi Motors reveals today the sharp look of its all-new Lancer sports sedan.
BEFORE YOU LOOK AT PICS: Please remember that this is the standard Lancer NOT THE EVO! The EVO is usually only loosely based on the normal Lancer so hopefully should look a lot more like the Concept-X.
To be launched in Europe from the fourth quarter of 2007, the Lancer sports sedan family will progressively expand to offer a complete line-up. Split into 4 powertrain levels (entry, mid-range, upper-range and supercar), it will propose 5 different engines, including the VAG-supplied 140 ps – 2.0 litre diesel already fitted to Grandis Di-D and Outlander Di-D.
UK Only:
1. Timing of launch of 4-door Lancer in the UK has not been decided, it will be Q4 2007 at the earliest but likely to coincide with launch of Lancer Evolution X in Q1 2008.
2. Images supplied are of the standard 4-door Lancer model, not the turbo or Evolution X.
