St-anger, if I'm being rational I completely understand why Porsche is following this strategy. However, when I'm the emotional car freak that visits Jabbas World every day my heart bleeds when I read a story like this about one of my favorite car brands. No offence though, I still have lots of respect for Porsche. Nevertheless, if I buy one, it's gotta be a 911. Call me a conservative...

This is the first time Porsche really missed the ball.....

The 924 no matter how badly concived with the VW 2.0L was still a quick car for its day. Porsche isnt the same company it was just 5 years ago. They abandoned the people who made them the best brand in the world. The company is gone and there is no hope to bring it back.

I saw an interview with the Porsche of America president who really emphatically believes that stuff like this is necessary. He went so far as to saying that Porsche is not an exotic (he was obviously alluding to Ferrari) and so could never compete on those terms. He said that their only choices as a low volume seller is to either be swallowed up by giant (a la Ferrari and Lamborghini) or expand themselves. He singlehandedly credited the Boxster for Porsche's current success--not the more glamourous things like the GT2 or CGT. So, sad to say, I have to agree with their plans .

What a coincidence, minutes after I read this thread, I noticed a new review posted at canadiandriver.com on the cayenne V6!

Read about it at http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/rr/04cayenne.htm

I don't agree with what they are doing its going to kill the company. They build quality has degraded and they murdered the 911. The Boxster is the only car I really came to love out of the new line up because its orginal and it has parts on it used in a much more expensive sports car (the 996).

Somehow I don't think that the Porsche badge fits a jeep...especially when it is fitted with a V6 engine from Volkswagen. 0-100km/h...damn it !!! My dads Niissan Primera has faster acceleration !!!
