I just don't get it, if i would own such a car, i would not stop at 120mph, i would have to know for sure what the damn thing could do flat out.
And if the place i'dd live would be so speed-sensitive, i would go out on a week night, scout the road first and then take my chances.
|
The place for determining top speed is on a track, not a public highway, i think.
I did my run at 5.30 am with a Testarossa in the lead. The hwy we were on is known for having lots of CHP patrols. I'm speed crazy, not insane, my friend. I thought 120 was good enough. 8)
I do agree with you 100% that the raison d'etre for speedtraps is revenue generation only. Ridiculous. The cops could spend their time better doing other things instead of sitting by the side of the road wasting our tax dollars.

Still waiting for pics
Comon, if you own a Modena what are you waiting for posting pics in the "what do you drive" section?

True - and a quick romp up to 150mph or so is really easy to achieve within a mile of entering the freeway... hell - if you entered the freeway "with extreme prejudice you could reach 170 in a mile... not that I would know of course...

Of course you wouldn't. You never go over the speed limit.
The fastest I've been on a road was 280 km/h in a BMW Alpina. On a track, I think it was around 300 km/h in one of those 2 seater F1 cars...I was the passenger, of course.

This may seem like a real stupid question, but how do you post photos? I can't seem to figure it out. I'd be happy to show you my ride.

ahahahhahahahahahhahaha. Priceless.
Top speed for me : 220Km/h in an E240 (yr 2000), 190 Km/h in a BMW 318Ci (traffic intervention).
Tops speed in my own car : 160 Km/h an hour. It wont go any faster, and still waiting to get money for some engine mods.

Norman,
Thanks for pointing out this site. Stop being a chicken, you little girl! Put it up buddy boy.
This picture is from a drive Norman and I and some other jokers were on. My friend took this picture in my car as a passenger. We touched a little higher, but it's hard to get decent pictures. This is in 5th gear, closing in on redline, slightly uphill.
The car was rock solid.

Boba, you're such a stud. Were you chasing that Murcielago when you took this picture?

wow you two lucky bastards owning Ferraris i want one if i had a Ferrari i'd go speed crazy after the first try! and also i'd go to Wyoming for a road trip then test out the high speed on those roads i mean they have no cars for miles!!! and only small turns between towns! i'd probably kill for a Ferrari! but guess i am pretty lucky too

I just realized it's hard to tell the markers w/o knowing the guages. That's 160mph, so ~255kp/h.
Highest I have ever heard of a Maranello actually doing is 189 (verified by radar). I don't know of any Maranello that has hit the sacred 199 top speed.

PS: Hello all. Should've said that in the first post, but I was too busy helping my technically challenged friend Norman!

Norm: good point. That time I met Ferdi (when he was with Baron ni the Murcie) we touched somewhere around there, possibly higher, on 280 JSO (just south of, police writing on a ticket not that I have any...) 92. He was visiting Victor who lives 1 street down from me (so I found out).
Point is, when Ferdi and I ran, he was pulling from me and I was touching past 160 (that was when I took my last brief glance)...redlined 5th and shifted into 6th for about 3 or 4 seconds under WOT. I estimate ~170, with Ferdi doing ~180+
That was the first time I ever met him!
