They've done a touring/wagon M5 before, so this isn't anything new...
...however, if they do start selling an M7 or an X5M, then you can start throwing the labels around, and i'll have to agree with you.

Me not like. Hopefully, Audi will develop an RS6 Avant with quad-turbo W16 in it.

The ultimate soccer mom's car. She can start the oven, pick up the kids and get back home before anything is burned .

Correct, there already was an M5 Wagon, in the E34 format.
They initially wanted to do one for the E39 too, but they did not have enough engines for another car. (Remember the Z8 was also using that same V8 engine.)
There already is a M version of the X5 called the 4.8iS. It just doesn't have a M badge, for all intensive purposes though, it is a M car.
The head of BMW M Division already stated that there will definitely not be a M7. (Automobile Magazine Nov. issue.)

they're only selling the standard 5 wagons with AWD in the US so i guess it was an excusable question.

They'd have to do the wagon considerably cheaper for me to take that over an m5...
