I think it is a shocking truth that in F1 number 1 drivers get the best machinery. This is even evident in McLaren, though Juan Pablo's doesn't seem to blow up all the time.

I like Sato's erratic style, and I think he's proved enough to get a good seat next year even if he hasn't performed this season.

Any way guys I'm off to Turkey tonight! wooohooooooooo!!!!!!!

Yup Rubinho it`s one awesome driver , and he`ll do a great work at BAR .

Most certain he`ll be Jenson Button`s team mate in the following season.
Anyway , it`s said to see Rubinho leave Scuderia Ferrari .

GOD, i hope this remains what it is just a rumor, i wont be able to take it if Schumi changes and then Ferrari gets its act together.
maybe hes a little spoiled from the past 6 seasons, but he has to remember that when he came to Ferrari they werent winning anything and they overcame that and DOMINATED everyone and it might be to late this season but next season is a new one.

ill be praying twice as hard tonight.

Silly season at full swing, huh?

^ At least there not talking of Alesi or even Prost making there come back...

Concerning MS, some says he is renegotiating his contract with Ferrari after 06, but he wants more money: 40 m$ intead of 35 m$ (source in french: http://f1.racing-live.com/f1/fr/inde...24152657.shtml) I don't know how reliable it is

I really don't wanna open a new topic for this but does anyone find it annoying that F1-live.com have more and more advertisment nowadays??

I used to visit them everday, but ever since they put an intro and all these flash popups, I use it less and less

Williams Replaces Chief Designer

WilliamsF1 has released its chief designer Gavin Fisher and replaced him with former BAR chief engineer Jörg Zander. Fisher's contract has not been renewed and Zander is set to take on the post from the beginning of September.

Zander was responsible for overseeing the mechanical and transmission development of the BAR from 2002 until the spring of this year and before that worked on suspension development for Toyota when the Japanese manufacturer entered Formula 1.

This will be the first time Zander has overseen the design of an F1 chassis, which could be seen as a big risk for a team fighting to regain form and facing the switch to a Cosworth engine supply over the winter, but Williams is confident that the German can help turn its fortunes around.

Zander comes highly-rated from BAR.

“I am delighted that Jörg has decided to join Williams," said the team's director of engineering Patrick Head.

"This consolidates the process of restructuring WilliamsF1’s key technical posts.

"I believe we have set the foundation for one of the strongest technical teams in F1, and I have every confidence that Jörg will make a considerable contribution to our ambitions for next season and beyond.”

Williams has struggled to make its FW27 chassis competitive in 2005.

The car has only scored points in nine of this year's 14 races so far and its initial lack of pace was blamed on poor information from a new but incorrectly calibrated wind tunnel.

Despite an aggressive development policy, the team's best result of the season remains the Monaco Grand Prix where Nick Heidfeld and Mark Webber finished second and third, back in May.

The team's failure to maintain a consistent championship challenge was cited by BMW as a key reason for it deciding to end the pair's six-year partnership at the end of the season.

Most recently, the team suffered a spate of right-rear punctures in the Turkish Grand Prix, the reasons for which have not yet been disclosed.

Fisher, who joined Williams in 1989, has been the team's chief designer since 1997 and took overall responsibility for car design when chief aerodynamicist Geoff Willis joined BAR-Honda in 2002.

Fisher was also involved in a motocross accident last autumn, during a crucial period in the design of this year's car, and the team management revealed in a press conference recently that this had been a setback.

I agree: It's better to have one good team instead of two average ones.

Toyota to build second wind tunnel

Toyota will build a second 50%-scale wind tunnel at its Cologne-based Formula 1 factory. The new tunnel will further bolster the Formula 1 team's aerodynamics department whilst additionally acting as a complementary resource for Toyota's global motorsport activities.

GM Motor Sport Division of Toyota Motor Corporation and Executive Vice-President of Toyota Motorsport Yoshiaki Kinoshita commented: "The decision to build a second wind tunnel stems from our desire to become a world championship-winning Formula 1 team, but we will not be the only beneficiaries of this new facility. Toyota has three motorsport poles around the world with Higashifuji in Japan, Toyota Racing Development in the US and Toyota Motorsport in Germany. These three poles actively co-operate and share know-how, technology and expertise. Accordingly, the new windtunnel in Cologne will also double-up as an aerodynamic research centre for other Toyota motorsport activities around the world, highlighting Toyota's "One Team, One Aim" approach to global motor racing."

Construction of the new windtunnel will begin in October with an estimated completion date of August 2006. Toyota expects the new tunnel to be up-and-running by the start of 2007 after the necessary calibration period.

The new tunnel will be a similar construction to the existing 50%-scale facility that has been fully operational since 2001. It will be built adjacent to the existing facility and will be interlinked to the factory through connecting corridors, further enhancing Toyota's philosophy of building its entire Formula 1 car under one roof.

President of Toyota Motorsport John Howett added: "Although on-track performance and success in Formula 1 is the result of the complete package - chassis, engine, team, drivers - the major performance gains on a race-by-race basis come from aerodynamics. Most top teams already own two windtunnels and by having joint access to a second 50%-scale windtunnel with our motorsport colleagues in the US and Japan, we will enable us to efficiently increase our aero output as we look to fight for the F1 championship in the long-term. It is a big endeavour to have the new tunnel running by the end of 2006 but ambition and challenge is what Toyota is about."
