Panamera details - more or less confirmed

- panamera concept drawings have been presented to 100+ customers from the US and germany (they had to sign non disclosure agreements) in order to check the prospects of success.

- it's no sport estate, but a "coupé", looking quite similar to the 911 -- but with 4 doors and a lot bigger

- porsche is going to develop the car alone (VW backed out)

- the car body will be manufactured by component supplier magna-steyr in graz, austria. final assembly will take place in leipzig.

- offered engines: cayenne's V8 and CGT's V10

- car will share 40% of parts with 911/cayenne

- target 25,000 units/yr

- priced around 70,000 - 100,000 EUR

- final decision either on july 27th's board meeting or in september.

another hint and link from a local newspaper from austria:

Either I missed that post, either nobody talked about this, but I just read in the latest evo issue that 9ff gained manufacturer status like RUF and it's not a simple tuner company anymore!

And they are working on a mighty GT1 inspired supercar (900 hp)

yes they have, and indeed WHAT A LINEUP...i read in autocar (i believe) that porsche had over 300 test cars for the 997, and the Cayman over 100 too...so i guess there are also over a hundred Turbo prototypes driving around...we really should see more of them...

Well, regarding the 997 Turbo, it seems that the rumored new electronic AWD was just that - a rumour. It will have the same AWD system as the Carrera and Carrera 4S.

is this month issue the Nürburgring special???
thats exactly the reason why this issue is extra interesting for me (and also that a couple of the cars i've been waiting to hear about most, Exige 240R and Cayman, are tested in this issue, and so many more great cars)

9ff´s already working on a 996GT1 based 997 GT1 named 9F-GT1 some sources are telling that the raw body is already finished, the car should get a 4ltr. mid engine with at least 850hp, weight shouldn´t exceed 1450kg...

goal: to reach 400km/h... 8)

...interesting...
