He said at the wheels, dingo's car will probably be close to 400hp at the flywheel, therefore bein same/better than an FQ400

^ exactly.
Remember manufacturers (like Mitsubishi with the FQ400) qoute flywheel horsepower, not power at the wheels as is measured by a dyno.
An LP640 doesn't have 640hp AT THE WHEELS.

Holy shit, 8000 USD - too cheap for an Evo 8, gotta be something wrong with it surely! I paid over $40,000 USD for mine - 8MR so its better/more expensive but still...
Nah I don't do any of the work myself (not mechanically gifted unfortunately) - but I'm good mates with the local tuner/workshop so I get my work done at "reduced rates" Parts however I still have to pay full price for.

hahaha he said it was his sons but now he is in college and he bought him a newer one and wanted to get rid of the Evo. so i have no idea. my friend saw it and said it looked really nice. im now looking at a Prelude, 240SX, or Integra. something fun to drive.
im not very mechanically gifted either i just love cars. and thats good to have reduced prices. what does the Evo have on it now?

Good plan!!
THe only parts I've changed so far on the Evo are heavy duty clutch, full turbo back exhaust (Trust), intake, lowered springs and an ECU retune.

Went for a trip down south over the weekend with a few mates and found an awesome road to do high speed driving - decided to max out the Evo, had to see it hit limiter hehe.
270kmh at redline in 6th gear - not bad for a rally bred car designed for cornering and point to point driving. My passenger didn't get a clear shot of 270 so 265-267kmh (165mph) will have to do for the record books.
It got there bloody quickly too, very impressed with the car. I LOVE EVOS!!

Yeah I was a little surprised too as I'd never had it above ~220 before, not that its a major factor as I won't be hitting those speeds very often. Now that I've done it no point risking it again.
gis - you should know me better, video was taken from outside as I flew past - just gotta wait for the guy to edit it.
