I've read somewhere that there's a Porsche 911 996 Turbo S model coming out as a final tribute to the 996 before the 997 arrives. It had 450hp and more torque then the standard Turbo. They would also make it with PCB brakes and suspension upgrades.
Now I was wondering, this Turbo S model has the exact same specs as the Turbo with the X50 package. So is this 996 Turbo S just the same as the 996 with the X50 package? I suppose it is (except for the brakes)...
EDIT: here's a link to an article about it.

I've found some 911 996 Turbo S wallpapers at http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-200...11-Turbo-S.htm
For those in Canada: http://www.canadiandriver.com/news/040521-1.htm
EDIT: Oops, just realize they're just resized version of the pics posted by st-anger. BTW, this happened to be the 911th post. So now I'll have to dig up some quality content to compensate
EDIT: Okay, can't find anything on the net. So, stay tuned in the porsche multimedia thread. I have couple of interesting projects in mind....

I love 996 TT Cabrio... and now there the Turbo S Cabrio too: fantastic
My friend was going to take his 996 TT Cabrio in a week, but now there's Turbo S, so Porsche Italy gave him the ceramic brake without price and did a sale of 2.500 EUR . . .

Over 40000 cayennes are to be recalled due to problem with rear seatbelts.. possibility of failure in a crash! quality control is not as good as we would like to believe but not as bad as mercedes with brake system problems with the e and sl class!

...official PAG statement on that:
Stuttgart. Porsche AG of Stuttgart is checking the rear seat belt buckles on 40,848 Cayennes sold worldwide. The driver’s and front passenger’s seat belts are unaffected by this measure. All Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo vehicles produced between October 1, 2002 and December 17, 2003 will be checked.
Porsche’s quality tests have established that the shaft pin that forms a firm connection between the seat belt buckle and the anchorage fitting may have been incorrectly riveted. As a result, vibration could cause it to escape from the fitting. However, no cases of inadequate rear-passenger restraint system performance have so far occurred anywhere in the world. According to the supplier, only about 1,000 defective seat belt buckles were installed in Cayenne vehicles.
The vehicles that require this check need to spend about 20 minutes at the workshop so that they can be inspected and the rear seat belt buckles replaced if defective. The owners of the vehicles concerned will be informed shortly, and will incur no charge for the check and eventual replacement work.

hmmmm cool, 0-100 kph is a bit slower than i expected, cos sum1 else has tested it @ 3.5 Fore the rest its pretty good, i guess the CGT has alot more downforce at higher speeds, and thats why the 0-300 time is almost 4 secs slower...still they should be lapped around a good circuit to really know whos fastest

Wow, the 0-300 time of the CGT may be a bit dissapointing but wow, what the Enzo manages is amazing!! If I remeber correctly the McLaren F1 did the 0-200mph(about 322 kmh) in 28 sec. The enzo should be around that same time... pretty astonishing IMO

200mph = exactly 320 kph. And yes the enzo is VERY fast, but at those speeds the F1 was accelerating at such incredible speeds, i dont think the Enzo can do the same over 300kph. It has to do the 20 kph from 300 to 320 in 2 seconds, and i dont think it can do that

I just read this on autoweek.com:
Porsche sources in Germany say the company will decide within the year whether to return to big-time auto racing. If it does, it will likely return to Le Mans with a full factory effort, intending to go for the overall win.
“We are in the process of deciding where we want to go and how we want to do it,” the source said, adding that the company still has the LMP-class Le Mans racer it mothballed in 1999.
st-anger, can you enlighten us at all?
