My hope was to get a reliable ~400 horspower and leave compression low enough to use regular pump gas and/or add a power adder later. This is what I came up with as the most economical way to that power:

'69 Ford 351W block .030" over
Scat 3.85" stroker crank (392 CI)
Eagle I beam rods
Forged TRW pistons
Standard moly rings
Edelbrock Aluminum Heads (1.94"In/1.60"Ex)

So far about $3K US in parts and machine work and another couple hundred in tools specific to the engine and about $10K in tools overall for my "shop".
sweet...what have you done to the suspension?

Well I started at the ground with bigger rubber...235/45 17 in the front on 17x8 wheels, 285/35 17 in the back on 17x9.5 wheels. The rear suspension is the stock 9" and leafsprings for now. I haven't decided on a final format for the rear. Next I addressed the brakes (which is a work in progress...I hope to have a revised system this year). The current set up is 11" disks up front on Granada spindles (has the benefit of disks + a larger spindle/bearing combination) and 12" rears with some small Wilwood "Dynalite" calipers and an adjustable proportioning valve. The front suspension uses relocated tubular upper control arms (Global West) and solid heim jointed strut rods (radius rods). The sway bar is a 1" adjustable unit. Everything else including the steering is new stock style parts, front shocks are adjustable (Koni classics...a hassle to adjust), rear are non adjustable KYB's. Front springs are stock rate and height, the car is slightly lowered fron the revised front end geometry.

Plans for this year and early next year include:

Finish the engine...
Subframe connectors...
Possible roll bar...
Finalize a rear suspension format...
Revised brake system...
maximum tire size fitment...
Possible rack and pinion steering install...
Scale the car...
Surface plate inspection of suspension geometry...

Hi! I've been lurking around these forums for a while, and I thought id share my modified cars with you guys. Some of you probably know me from racingflix. I kinda already posted this in the what cars do you drive section, but I figure ill get more respect here. heh

The first one is a 1978 Corvette. It has the original block with the whole performer RPM package. It makes about 420 hp and 415 ft/lbs of torque. The transmission is a muncie M-21 four speed w/ a gearvendors under/overdrive. It has a modified front and rear suspension. In the rear, it has a transverse fiberglass leaf spring with bilstien shocks. The front was converted from upper and lower a arms with springs to a transverse leaf also. Both front and rear have fully adjustable ride height. It has sparco racing seats and a momo steering wheel. Both front and rear urethane bumpers were removed for custom fiberglass ones. Oh yeah, and it has almost open sidepipes. The only thing I haven't finished is the bodywork, which you can see.

The BMW is a 1982 320i w/ a 3.5 litre six from a 1991 535i (hence 335i). The modifications to the engine are a chip (proven to make 250 hp or more) an intake, and valvesprings. The transmission is a getrag five speed with a 3.94 limited slip rearend. The whole suspension was ditched for E30 coilovers, 200lb springs rear, 400 front. Both front seats were removed, and in their place Momo seats and a momo steering wheel now sit. In place of the 15 inch stockers are 16 inch, 3 piece wheels w/205 rubber. Fiberglass hood. Front and rear bumpers both removed, made custom ones. A lot of bolts were replaced with titanium and aluminum. My dad runs a business called www.titaniumfasteners.com, specializing in lightweight racing bolts and nuts. He is also a certified distributor of ARP and Stage 8 fasteners. Thats about it, hope you like the pictures! (well, maybe not the ones of the corvette, ill take some good ones tomorrow.)
