Yesss This has made my week!! I love it, and I cannot wait...I'm just curious though what are the engine regulations for Le Mans, because I was curious as to why they would not use the engine from the Carrera GT and just go from there unless that engine does not meet regulations of course....

which class? If it isn't a prototype then won't the road car sort of step on the 911's toes? A midengine car sitting between the Carrera GT and the Boxster could be getting in the way of any number of 911s depending on the performance.

if its a v8 then will it have any bearing on the engine to be fitted to 911 replacement in a few years? will that have a rear mounted small V8 or flat 8?

well i guess since this will be a race car, porsche road cars wont find alot of competition from it....... and since porsche is making it for le mans, it wont be a GT right? anyway i trust porsche knows what theyre doing, if it would be bad for other cars they wouldnt do a project like that

I suppose you are right, but there are several classes in Lemans. They wouldn't need to make it a prototype just to race at le mans.
If it was a gt then there has to be a road car and that would be the one competing with the 911s. A prototype does fit the bill though.

Well this is really breaking news. I'm glad we have you to inform us. This will be very very interesting!! Maybe if we're really lucky ferrari will rise up to the challange with a racing machine and the old Ferrari-Porsche Le Mans Battle will rise again! that would be supercool IMO! So a V8, interesting... I'm curious about the things you'll be able to tell us about it in the future! Thx for the info and the nice vids you posted.
have fun at Weissach
