how about they develop a good N/A engine like the best supercars have.. Mclaren and Enzo... instead of slapping a supercharger on a V-8
i mean all you do is have to swap pullies on the supercharger and the boost goes up.... but how long will it last???

They're nuts. People who bought the car will likely put it under high expensive silk comforter in the garage and once a while tow it to a car show.

but think of the cost involved in doing that..it'd make the koenigsegg even more ridiculously expensive!

Well, the best thing about supercharged (or turbocharged) engines is that they make shit loads of torque! While a 360 Modena has 400 hp, it only has 280 lb/ft TQ (while a Enzo has 660 hp, it only has 400+ lb/ft of TQ). While the Koeniggsegg has 650 hp, I think the torque is also around 600 lb/ft. Let's not forget that it's torque that wins races!

does anybody have a video clip of the Koenigsegg hitting 240 mph?
ive always heard of it...just never had any proof.

I think at the moment the world is in a powersurge.
Forget the muscle car era, at the moment, everyone is going power nutts!!! This is a perfect example of that!!!!

The Koenignsegg CCR. 250Mph. Yikes. What about tyres? The Macca F1 blistered it's original ones when Tiff went for the UK Speed record back in 95, and he wa sonly doing 202 mph. what about the Koenigsegg? TWO HUNDRED and FIFTY???
Superchargers, turbochargers, fartchargers.
Why not a pure N/A engine? Sure, superchargers and turbochargers have prodigious amounts of torque. But dont you want to hear your engine SCREAMING at 9,000 RPM, rather than hear a supercharger whine at 3000, or a turbocharger wastgate chuff at 7500?
Surely that's one of the draws of watching F1? An F1 power unit spinning at 19,000 RPM (now 17000, to preserve reliability)...heaven. You should be at track side to fully appreciate the sheer presence of such a sound.
I wasn't exactly enamoured to the sound of the Koenigsegg during JC's review. As opposed to? Being completely electrified when Tiff was giving his original review, way back in 1994, on the Macca F1. Hearing, and seeing it, roaring around Goodwood, is one of the most treasured videos i have, and will ever have.
Bring back the N/A engine, you supercar lot, Enzo aside.

Just sounds like y'all are just skeered... LOL

You have a point, but the difference between crank power and power on the wheels depends very much on the drivetrain. A good gearbox and diff will transmit more power to the wheels. Stating an expected wheel power is risky...

Yes, the McLaren is impressing! Then again, no benchmark can last for ever. It's bound to be beaten. Maybe not now, but...

No kidding - in just one afternoon of boystrous rolling burnouts and crazy driving through the woods I took half the tread off a set of 10 1/2" wide Good Year SC's - with that much juice on tap you would be able to run through to the cords in a dozen 1/4 mile runs...
