I like the 355 better but between these two Id' take a Ferrari 360 Modena/Red/Manual...my reasons:
1)It's a Ferrari
2)The SOUND of that lovely V8
and
3)It's a Ferrari...

Ferrari. I imagine of owning a Ferrari more than owning a Porsche.

Ferrari for sure.........In Tour de France Blue with tan interior and F1 transmission

No doubt that id like the Porsche but a Ferrari is a Ferrari

But if i planned to be driving that car daily, than the Porsche would be my pick

Ferrari is too appealing: black/manual/BBS rims. Ultimately slower, but still has plenty of go, mid engine chassis dynamics, fabulous NA engine, great looks, and the cachet of the Ferrari name. Makes the 911 almost seem common! Still, the 911 Turbo is arguably the most well rounded supercar out there.

Id choose the porsche, I hate the 360's looks, and I dont like those wide supercar stances. The porsche is more of a classic upright stance, and I think it looks amazing. Plus its not the slowest car on the block

Less traction (RWD), less torque, and less power. Lighter, but in the real world an AWD car will virtually always beat a RWD car, no matter how well sorted the RWD car may be (why we see no AWD F1 cars). Also, the 360 is drag limited to a top speed of somewhere in the low 180s (vs. the Turbo's 194mph) and slower to 60 by 0.4 s (4.6 vs 4.2 for the Porsche - CAR). The 360 is prone to slight oversteer which is fun on the track but wasteful in focused driving. Finally, although BM is by no means a completely objective source, the 360 lost in the 0-60, time trial, 1/4 mile, and race to the Porsche.

Anyway, as you can see, I was not easily convinced of this fact myself, and only through considerable research have I decided that the Ferrari is actually slower. I still love it to death though, and would always take it over the Porsche.

Personally, i'd go for an SL55/SL600. But sinc eyou've narrowed it down to those two particular cars. How about you skip the struggling torque-less raw-edged, unreliable, expensive to maintain pasta rocket, and go for the 911.Which isn't exactly flaw-less, hence my decision (don't try to point out the bad points of the SL, I already know what they are...heavy, not involving, blah blah.) Stick with the Turbo, it can do things most other cars can't 0X

im a big fan of the SL55 AMG too!!! i know its not as fun to drive as a 911 turbo or ferrari 360 but its better overall. you can take it to the track, drop the top, use it as a daily driver, go on a weekend trip, all in luxury adn comfort AND its as fast, 0-60 as a ferrari. great overall car and i do recognize its flaws but overall its my fav car.

glad to see an old topic of mine revived like this!!

Well, as soon as I saw the title of this thread i knew what was gonna happen... Ferrari would win hands down... In my opinion this just isn't fair. Almost everybody will take the Ferrari over the Porsche for the following reasons.
1) its a ferrari...
2) it has great sound
3) it attracts the chicks

This is wrong wrong wrong.

Overall Porsche is the better car and if you ask any professional that has tested them both evenly they will say the same. The EVO car of the year a few years ago was a showdown between the 911 turbo and the 360... Porsche won

Honestly I would have to test drive both thoroughly. I love both cars. Sometimes I want one more than the other. Truthfully I am going to own both. 8)

hard question....i think i'd have to do with the turbo if its my only car and use the remaining $$ that i saved not buying the 360 to mod it....but if it was a second car..i'd have to go w/ teh 360.....hell, its a ferrari!
