I like Impreza a little bit more and it's also more civilized .

I like a car that can handle well, and since the evo is the better handling of the pair, I picked that one. Also i've always liked the evo series more than the impreza series

EVO, same reason as WhiteP. I watch too much BM videos, and EVO always beat WRX STI.

subie has comparable systems, the DCCD (driver controlled center diff). track use is great, i love the evo from a distance... and still perfer the sti at a distance and up close. the evo uses cheaper parts both on the interior, and exterior (i accidentally ~broke the front grill... very cheap plastic hookups). i cant say im on a track every weekend, or everyday; and ill take the longer torque curve of the STi. did i mention how much i love the STi's styling... the only better saloon out there is the M5 IMO.

STi for me. It's my daily driver and I cannot get enough of this car. I personally appreciate all great cars and am not an EVO hater. They too are awesome vehicles.
I chose the STi for a few reasons:
1. After owning a standard WRX, I was leary of doing a lot of mods as the tranny is a very weak link. I have read numerous posts on evolutionm.net about tranny failures on the EVO too. The JUN Super Lemon is running a stock STi 6MT with gobs of power. http://www.junauto.co.jp/democar/gdb-lemon/spec.html?en
2. I felt for the money that the interior was better than the EVO.
3. The USDM EVO isn't the same as the JDM counterpart. It doesn't have the awesome AYC and i think it is missing the ACD. The USDM STi on the other hand is making more HP than the JDM version with it's 2.5L motor vs the JDM 2.0 twin scroll turbo. This year at least.

the EVO has a center diff and I still say that the STi is way too flashy with gold rims and shit. It's just a better all around car and I test drove both of them before I chose.

You mean the STi right? I can rape the fuck out of a normal WRX in my EVO and I seam to be better than most of the STi drivers around here.

well the evo 8 is ugly compared to the 7 and the 04 wrx look much better then the 03. both car have basically the same performance so i have to choose the WRX since it actually improved a lot over the 03 version

I'm sure the Evo is a great car... I hear it is from many trusted sources, its specs and its price are both fantastic. It performes well at Solo-II events... Its a spectacular machine...
If only it wasn't is @"#&! ugly...
I hate to seem shallow... hell, I hate to BE shallow, but christ... inside and out, I've seen gaudy rice with more class. The interior isn't any better either... About as comfortable has a base Kia...
I've drooled over the subie since its announcement last year... Not quite as sporty, not quite as extreme (which is a downer for me, since I am very passionate about my driving)... but I could actually look at it while it was in my garage... a HUGE plus. And hell, when it comes down to it, it is still an extraordinary drive...
STi me...

Evo because
-the subi sounds like a lawn mower that needs a ring job.
-the evo turns in better because the entire motor isn't positioned ahead of the front axle
I'm very impressed at how close the pole results are.

the polls are 50/50 right now as i voted! thats surprising...but what else do you expect? these cars are meant to go head to head.
i'll go with the evo 8, because i think its styling is nice (but that wing needs to go!) and the performance is simply awesome for a compact AWD.
the STi doesn't look like a big step up from the WRX models, (aside form a bigger scoop and a bigger wing) and the Evo is a fresh look for those of us in the states.
