Veyron, as impressive as its performance it is, is less impressive in conception. A project that was completed by just throwing a lot of money at it. It's just not very evocative.
I agree and disagree,
F1 is pure in design and concept of the car is very clear, it's meant to be best drivers car and it is(was) but don't fool yourself in to thinking that it was a cheap project, mclaren just like bugatti lost a lot of money in that "adventure"

Never did I say that the F1 didn't cost McLaren money. The point is that McLaren and Gordon Murray minimized resource waste while Volkswagen struggled with every conceivable aspect of the project.

One big difference worth noting is Bugatti's attention to detail, as well as long term reliability. Bugatti are a company who feel their clients; and their experience with the car and company are more important than any other company I've ever seen. They will call you, ask if all is well; and if there is a question which requires more; they will fly out and make sure all is well before they leave. At their expense.

Vw struggled becouse of mr.Piech's "silly" idea to make car that is stronger and faster then anything else on the road and at the same time easy to drive, reliable, safe and everything you would expect from a mercedes or something similar, while F1 was primarly build as a fast drivers car and that was a good "excuse" for not wasting more millions in to stuff like awd or dsg box.

an example, veyron with over 46000 km, without any problems, something even normal cars can't achive

I wonder how long it would take for the replica makers to get on the veyron stick? I think it would be bad ass if someone started making replicas of these 2 cars with engine choices, I mean who cares if it's not original, I could go for a veyron powered by a GTR engine or a F1 with a mercedes "black" power plant for under 100k

Whatever happened to Steve Sutcliffe's quote, when Autocar peformed their original test of the Veyron? It went something along the lines of: "if you passed a Veyron (standing still), while acclerating WOT in a Mac F1, and they Veyron started to accelerate, just as the F1 passed it at 100 mph, the Veyron would pass the F1, before it reached 200 mph."

This race, shouldn't have been one. Very WWF/Nascar/whatever IMO. This, coming from a big F1 fan (I have Doug Nye's 'Driving Ambition' and the original VHS video chronicalling the F1 GTR's win at Lemans).

YOu mean "at your expense"...

They factored in those little vacation trips in the purchase price LOL
