Very good opening cermony I really enjoyed the drums in the beginning, and the upload is very cool of you, but I want someone to upload somewhere some of the lesser known sports, like fencing and other stuff.

I saw shooting plates on the TV, but not judo. Judo sounds cool to watch at their level.

It now has been admitted (in Beijing Times, by a member of the olympic committee) that the part with the giant footprints actually was a 55-second long animation (!!!). It took a year to make, they even added some vibration to make it look like it was shot from a helicopter.

I couldn't find the original article in engliah, but this probably is as good:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26139005/

They do have some valid reasons for using an animation instead of real fireworks. I'm 100% that the chinese could have made it using real fireworks if they would've wanted to. After all, the final shots near the stadium were real.

I have to admit, the animation was REALLY good. Seriously, it was unbelievably realistic.

Real or not, it was fantastic entertainment. When it looks good, you really don't care.

Actually you should care.

This entire Olympics is a PR sham for the Chinese.

The little singer even lip-synced because the "perfect voice" didnt hve the "perfect face" and vice-versa.

It looks like the image-concious West fell for this ultra-extravagant sham hook, line and sinker.

It is a shame that the only "real" people and activities surrounding this Olympic are the athletes themsleves, and everything else is pure window-dressign to try "convince" the West that modern China is a free and democratic ally.

When athletes have to make public appologies for "insulting the host country" for wearing breathing masks because the air is so polluted they have no choice but to wear them, you know something is wrong with the whole picture.
